They are at the vet with her right now. She's been sick for a while. But now it is much worse with violent gastrointestinal distress. They were supposed to leave yesterday to visit relatives for Christmas, and Lauren's birthday. Then they were going to leave early this morning. The plan was that a petsitter was coming in 3 times a day, and would keep in close contact. But Perla got much worse and Lauren was up all night with her. She is, understandably, very distraught.

So please, prayers and vibes for Perla and Lauren.

Update: Perla doesn't have a blockage. She has a high fever, and the vet thinks it's a virus. She is staying at the vet's, with an IV. She'll stay there while Lauren is out-of-town. They will run tests to make sure she doesn't have a more serious illness.

Lauren and her husband are now, finally, on their way to Door County, Wisconsin, to see family. I just hope she can relax, a little bit. She sure has been through an awful lot with one sick cat or dog after another - or several at the same time. It's just too much!

Continuing :vibes:

Lauren will update here, later, sometime late tonight, probably.

Best wishes that the vet can provide good updates on Perla so that the whole family can enjoy the holiday.

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear!  I knew Perla was under the weather, and that the clavamox was making her throw up, but had no idea it was getting worse.  Poor Perla, Poor Lauren!  Well, I guess if she's going to be sick, no place better to be than in the Pet Hospital, no?
that she's feeling better very soon, and that Lauren can enjoy her little vacation and de-stress.

I am overwhelmed with happy tears at seeing this thread. I don't know if I should cry or laugh. Thank you, Robin, :hugs::hugs: for starting the miracle vibes coming Perla's way. I am sick with worry but had no other choice. Perla had a distemper vaccine on December 5. All went downhill from there and was put on Clavamox for ten day. About day seven she started up the vomiting again. At first, I didn't know who was doing it because Perkins and Presley were also sick from the distemper. Then I saw Perla throwing up and this morning had severe bloody diarrhea. We took her in immediately. Fever of 105.2 She is on IV med's and fluids and will have to stay in the hospital till we come home on Tuesday. Will be waiting for blood test results - preliminary tests were all very good - but the panel and the FeLK FIV will come in on Monday...... SHe was tested as a kitten but I guess sometimes those tests can be false negative. I really can't think straight right now :lol3:. I also have a sick dog. Interestingly Perla and Wilbur both eat Fancy Feast from time to time to get their appetite going...... Wilbur is sick too. Also new was Wilderness - which Wilbur would eat too. These could all just be coincidences. ANd my gut is telling me that the Clavamox is what has made her so ill. I did here from the vet and Perla is resting peascefully tonight. She has all the comfort's for home with her of course and her favorite toy's and fleece kitty cube to hide in. She is on my mind constantly and I feel so bad for my baby my :princess: Perla.... Thank you for any prayers/vibes you can muster for her recovery and for this to not be anything serious :cross:

Thank you my friends :hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs: Will try to keep you posted of any news I get. Hard to be on the computer up here at my parent's house as the computer is very, very, very, slow - but I will keep you all posted. Thank you again for your kind words, means everything to me to have the support. :heart3:

I think it's good she is at the hospital, as she is getting the care she needs, and will hopefullly easy your worry, even if just a little.

Continued vibes and prayers for Perla. And for Wilbur, too.And hugs for you.

Lauren, the timing just sucks, of course. But I'm sooooooooo glad Perla let you know she needed to be in the hospital before you left rather than have a petsitter trying to figure out which cat needed to go! I know this is so hard on you. But at least Perla's getting the best possible care. I hope that eases your mind enough to enjoy a bit of the holidays AND your birthday! :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

More vibes for Perla and Wilbur flying their way! :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes:

And vibes for you, for comfort and ease of mind. :heart3: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

Just as an FYI, every cat I've ever had gets sick on clavamox, but only throws up, and stops eating (not that that's a good thing
), certainly not bloody diarrhea.  Glad the Vet says she was feeling better and that preliminary test were good.  Continued
for her, and Wilbur too!

Thank you all very much. :hugs::hugs: I am feeling so very anxious today about Perla, so very worried. I am trying to stay positive. Laurie, you are right - it was unbelievable that Perla had that bloody diarrhea right before we left. We were ten minutes from leaving for our trip. She was then rushed to the vet. Otherwise, Krista, my petsitter would have come over to find bloody diarrhea all over the walls, carpeting and it was all over Perla's back end. Just terrible for my baby. Krista would have needed the help of Robin to try to trap her and get her into a crate. She is very fearful of stranger's and even it was hard for me to catch her and get her in the crate. I think she knew she was very, very sick and was going to the hospital. She is where she needs to be. I just wish I could visit her but I cannot and that makes it even harder. I am counting the minutes till I can see her on Tuesday and get all of the test result's. Hopefully she will be more recovered by Tuesday and I will have a plan as to how to treat her at home.

I will keep updating and it helps me to be here on TCS with all of my caring friend's. Help's with my anxiety just knowing you all care about Perla. Warms my heart. Merry Christmas, Happy Holiday's to you all..... :Evergreen: :present: :deer: :santa: :Evergreen: :present: :deer: :santa: :wavey:

Well, Bugsy has had a 1 YEAR and 2 Month long diarrhea long due to clavamox....... Months of explosive diarrhea....... Now It is not explosive anymore, but no matter what we do, nothing have fixed him back to what he was pre-Clavamox. That drug will not enter my house again. Surely Bugsy is not the usual cat.... He is extra sensitive.... But Clavamox can do some serious damage....
I hear she got a shot of Reglan? that does help a LOT. It did for Bugsy, on his crisis, and I know of another cats who was having a bad clavamox crisis, and that's what it was given successfully. This shot should make your girl diarrhea and vomit stop...... It works and fast. :cross: In extreme cases they can put her in a Reglan drip too.... But hopefully all she will need is that one shot and pills :cross:

Tons, tons of vibes to little Perla......... and tons, and tons of calming vibes for mom :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:
