Nature's variety Instinct lamb

I think I wasted my money buying a case of cans of this food.  I bought it to give it to Lucas to see if he is allergic to lamb,  I decided to get it because it has only lamb and lamb liver, it doesn't have other meats, but I opened a can today to give to Fuzzy because I ran out of his food and when I saw the meat I was dissapointed.   I know Lucas and I just know he won't like it, I know him so well, in fact, none of my other kitties liked it.  It is not a soft pate, it is wet, but hard like they have to chew a lot, I don't really know how to describe it because I can only think of words in spanish. I tried adding water but it made it worse.

I will still try giving it to Lucas but I know my boy won't eat it, what a dissapointment;(

Nature's Variety surely guarantees their food so you should be able to return it. Of course if you bought it on line I suppose it will cost almost as much as the case, to ship it back. In that case I guess donate it to the shelter. Or...hang on to it for a while and just offer them a can of it every now and then.

That sounds like a bad case to be honest, have you opened any of the other cans to see?

I work for the company, and feed this food, the food should not be chewy like you describe. It's a soft pate type food, similar in consistancy to Friskies, etc. If you bought it from a store, take it back there AND contact the company (you can either email them or call them), let them know the lot number and what the problem is with the food. That sounds really unusual. There are no recalls that I am aware of, but I would probably only be informed of Canadian ones.

If you'd like, I can take a picture of what the food is suppose to look like.

Nature's Variety's lamb flavour is actually my cat's favorite.   Most other brands are pasty and sticky because they add guar gum, and my cat doesn't seem to like as much....

There are some foods that seem more solid and while the moisture is around 80% like others just have a different pate consistency, so I think I know what you mean.    I don't think its a defect, just a little variation in recipes.

Authority Cat and Kitten lamb is actually the same way, almost makes me wonder if lamb meat is just a different texture than the chicken we are used to.

My cats did eat it, but I added water and squished it all up with a fork to make it similar consistency to what they are used to.  *shrugs*

Well, is not like the food has a bad smell and it is not expired, I just see that it has a different consistency and my cats like the soft pate, this one actually looks like real meat and  you can see the vegetables and it has a nice smell, but it really doesn't look  like the ones my kitties like.   I will open a second can tomorrow to see if there is a difference.  I will still give it to Lucas later on, buy I know he won't like it, that is how well I know him.

Tammy- for some reason, my cat's refuse the NV lamb canned food too dontknow.gif.... they will eat the rabbit - venison - or the beef. They turn their noses up at the lamb and chicken. NV will most definitely take back that case - I know a real pain to go through that. But NV guarantees all of their food agree.gif Scritches to your sweet Lucas hugs.gifrub.gif

Thank you Lauren, none of my kitties will eat it, there must be something wrong with it, it doesn't smell bad, but doesn;t look good. I don't know what to do, I bought it online like a month ago and I've opened two cans, I don't know what to do.
