Grrrr!! I am very cross with myself (better than being cross with the animals). I have a friend who has lost the use of her right arm through RSI and is having trouble cooking for Christmas. She promised to come over to see me this morning to exchange cards and have a chat. Anyway, I thought I would make her a pie and a cake to help her out a bit. I got the chicken pie in the oven and had well started on the cake when she rang and said she would come tomorrow instead as she was needed at home today. By that time I had a jug full of the wet ingredients - milk, melted butter, 2 eggs and 2 tbs of lemon curd, all beaten up and warmed in the microwave. So I thought I would cool it and put it in the fridge, ready to make the cake tomorrow morning instead. But I forgot it and decided to go out to finish my shopping. I did think about it while I was out but thought no one would touch it because of the lemon taste. WRONG!

I got back to a yellow kitchen floor, the greasiest, slipperiest mess you can imagine. The butter had set, the egg added a sticky touch and the milk had spread the liquid all over hte floor tiles. The yellow of the yolks and the lemon curd gave it all a festive touch. I had to wash the floor four times with boiling water and detergent before I dared walk over it. I don't know who was responsible but they all looked a bit guilty.

Well, it all got finished Ok this morning and my friend came over as planned without more incidents. All cats are quite quiet today - either remembering or planning mischief, I am not sure which!
