Introducing New Kitten...

Hi there,

We adopted a little stray 10month old girl a couple of months ago & she seemed incredibly lonely & since we're at work all day everyday we wanted to get her a little friend to play with.

So a week ago we adopted a little 9 week old boy kitten.

We've had him in a seperate room away from the girl but she doesn't want anything to do with him, she won't even go down that end of the house, she seems very frightened of him.

We've tried bringing the boy kitten out to meet her in a cage & without a cage & everytime she will arch her back, hiss & growl at him.

He's a fast little bullet & he will just run towards her not taking any notice of her threats.

Is there anyway we can help this process along?

We're worried the little boy will get hurt as he is very tiny, fits in the palm of your hand.

At the moment we're trying daily introductions but our girl just won't change her mind about him.

Any pointers?

Thanks heaps

Jay

PS: our girl has been spayed but the boy hasn't yet

Take a look around the site, there are numerous fabulous recommendations for introducing kitties. It can take a little time and can be a bit of work but both of the kitties are young enough that they should be fine as long as you introduce them correctly.

Check out the site for some really good tips.

The good news is that two cats will almost always work out an accommodation.

For one thing, try letting the little guy out and the older girl in his "safe room" for a while, just to exchange scents.
