Happy Hanukkah! I am not Jewish, but I was raised Jewish, so I've taught my children much about the religion and the holidays. Their dad read the story to them last night, so my sons this morning were arguing about which of them would have been which Maccabee. They finally decided that my oldest would have been Shimon the wise, and my middle son would have been Judah the strong. My youngest asked who he could be, so my oldest (the wise one) told him he was Max, the cute.
It's a wonderful story, and my husband reads it to them, and acts out the voices. Very sweet to watch.

A friend of mine posted a message on her Facebook page that said she is "taking out the Hanukkah ham for dinner". I hope everyone can understand the humor in "Hanukkah ham"! I told her it was sort of like putting up a "Hanukkah bush" for the holidays.
