Its ironic

Thread Starter

Just when to pantry in the basement and took out a bag of tortilla chips.  When going upstairs chips were falling out as the bag has a hole in it.  I looked closer and Neil agreed it looks chewed open.  Went back down with flashlight and I see mouse poop on the shelf!!

And I have 5 cats!  Actually Chirpy and to some extent the kittens had been hanging around down there-I bet someone will come up with it unless it finds (not hard to do) its way to the firewood (3 full cords stacked in the basement).

Happy hunting kitties..............

Ew! Geez, I just hate mice! And with five cats in your house? Someone is not doing their job! C'mon, kids, find that mouse!

Really - what do they think we feed them for?!?!?!? laughing02.gif

I lived in a very rural area for a time and was surprised by the number of mice that made it past the feral colony that lived outside, then into my house where I had about 12 cats and 5 dogs. I would find the occasional dead mouse tucked into things, like under a rug, in my briefcase, and under a pillow on our bed. Thanks kids!

DH won't let me live down one mouse episode. I was in the kitchen surrounded by critters, when a mouse came running across the kitchen floor. I actually screamed "eek" and jumped up on a chair, then told the kids to take care of the mouse. DH busted his gut laughing at me, and has told just about everyone we know about the time I actually used the word "eek" when I saw a mouse.

laughing02.gif I'm so glad it's not just me!!!

I recently had to set a mousetrap in my basement (where the kitties can't get at it) and said to DH: "Three formerly stray cats living in a less-than-1000-squae-foot house and not one of them can catch a single mouse?!"

Cotton was a fantastic mouser - he caught them even after he'd had his teeth pulled. They one time I've seen Freya catch one she ran downstairs yowling with it in her mouth, until Sybil and Wendel came and sat in a triangle with her, then the 3 of the whapped it back and forth between them...NOT killing it, I might add. After 5 minutes of this DH took pity on it, caught it and threw it outside. rolleyes.gif

I have to say. With five inside and five outside cats plus the dog. I haven't seen so much as a squirrel or chipmunk on the whole farm let alone a mouse. We had one mouse.the first night we moved in and it was dead by morning.

I would be having a talking to the kitties. They need to do their job.

Every winter we get a mouse or two in the house.  I've only had one cat that ever caught a mouse, and he carried it---live---thru the house until I managed to get him to drop it, then swept it outside.  I don't think my 6 have a clue.  rolleyes.gif

Wow, ewwww. I know Trout would stalk a mouse if she knew it was here.

I told df about this thread and he said if we ever got mice in the house and the cats didn't kill them he would replace them with 'real cats' lol.

No mice by me, but Wesley was really close to giving a squirrel a heart attack this morning.

Right next to the bedroom window is a (squirrel proof) bird feeder.   squirrel was trying so hard to defeat the mechanism totally unaware of his surroundings when Wesley SLAMMED at the glass causing the squirrel to do this awkward mid air flip and zoom off like it was the apocalypse!  Took at least a couple days off his lifespan... laughing02.gif
