Hello everybody;

I can't sleep, a small earthquake woke me and them a second one, OMG the house was shaking and I got soo scared!  We all wen't outside and after it passed I wen't back inside, got my cat crates and grabbed my kitties, who were all super scared and hidding under the bed and ran outside.  The hardest to catch was Lucas, he was sooo nervous, he was paralized.  I grabbed his food and his meds and everybody kept telling me to take food for us, but  I had to take care of my kitties too.  We were outside for two hours, fron 2am to 4.  I'm sooo scared, I can't go to bed again, I'm afraid of it happening again.

My how scary. I do the same thing when we had tornado warnings  or my buildings ...gotta go. Just as I was typing this our  fire alarms went off.  Time to catch the kitty. In the carrier she goes, just in case.

I just had a weird coincidence.

Hope everything is ok now! Earthquakes are scary, even tremors. I lived in Guam for a while and experienced many tremors and a few quakes (strongest was 6.8 I think). My cats were freaked out every time, and they could sense them before they happened. After the 6.8 we had 2 weeks of tremor after tremor and after a while I could tell when they were coming because the cats started running around like crazy, I guess looking for a safe place, about 30 seconds before they started. It's amazing what animals pick up that humans don't.

Earthquakes are common in Guam, but are they in Puerto Rico? I thought this slab of the earth was pretty stable. But then again, we had an earthquake in Virginia a few months back so who knows. Mother Nature is full of surprises.

Thank you all, we are all doing fine, all except my girl Flaqui, she was traumatized by the experience.  It wasn't a big earthquake, there were two tremors, one was 5.2 and the second 5.3 , but it felt very strong because the center was very close to our area. There was a horrible sound and then everything started moving , it was too scary, they happened at 2 am. Flaqui was in shock, she has been very affected, she is not eating well and she has been crying for two days, she only calms down when I'm with her.  I was able to get her to eat just a little by petting her back.

I feel bad because Flaqui really wanted to leave  and I didn't let her,so she felt trapped, she wanted to go and escape the situation.  I just hope she gets better soon, she is not herself.

Thank you Laurie, it is just a horrible feeling because you feel so helpless when the earth is moving, and the sound, I still hear it, I hated it.  The third one was just 3.0 and I didn't really feel it, but my brother and his wife did.

We spent hours out on the streets with our neighbors.

My mom kept telling me to let Flaqui go because she was desperate, but I was afraid and I didn't let her go. Then I just decided to put her in the family room while the others where in their carriers and when everythins passed and I went to check on her, the poor girl was frozen.  I wish I would have listened to my Mom and let her out. She would have hidden in a place of her choice and she would be fine now :(

This is very bad for Flaqui,she had made a lot of progress because she was a feral girl and  I'm spent two years gaining her trust and making her feel happy and relax, now she is just so nervous.  She still likes me,  but she is a nervous wreck.

thanks for the vibes:)

Hugs, Tammy

Tammy, if it makes you feel any better, Flaqui probably would have been traumatized outside too. It wasn't just you house that shook and she would have been scared being outside and having the ground move. At least you know where she is and can talk her down. Imagine if she was outside and scared stiff and you had no idea where she was.

But, I can understand. Honestly the earth is NOT supposed to move!

Thank you so much;)  Yes, I guess I did the right thing, I didn't want to let her go thinking she could get scared and get lost or like you say, stay stiff hidden somewhere, I would get crazy if I couldn't find that girl.
