OMG I just phoned the lady, she fosters and currently has 22 kitties,I am going at 4pm today to hopefully bring back the ginger and white female, she is 12 weeks old but she said she is very petite, she was trying to talk me into having her brother aswell
I'd better not push my luck and I only want one more kitty.I told her all about my kitties and that I am a member on here and she said with gut feeling from speaking to me she would let me take her no problem today. They even send you a voucher for a half price spay which is brilliant.I am so excited
Now just gotta tell hubby she's coming home today

Its been a very long time since I have introduced kitties to my lot so any advice would be appreciated.x

Well,I've got her but she is very scared at the minute and is hiding under the sofa, she hasn't met the other kittys as yet and i am not going to push her into it.When we get her home I let her out of the carrier, she went instantly to the tray, had a wee and then went to hide and I haven't seen her since.Should I just leave her to it?and when do I exect her to come out?Its been so long since I had a new kitty. She is beuiful though white and gnger and she has the smallest, cutest face ever.I haven't got a name as of yet,I want something pretty and christmassy I will post a seperate thread for ideas please.xx

Congrats on the new addition! I'm no expert, but I'd just let her hide and not be pushy with her, let her adjust and get comfortable on her own. I hope your other cats get along with the new kitten ok!!

Since she's a Christmas kitty how about "Noel" for her name?

She'll come out of hiding in her own time.   When we brought Tippy into the house she lived on a dining room chair for around 2 weeks just observing everything going on around her.   She had been a stray and was about one year old.     Now she thinks she owns the whole house!

Look forward to seeing pictures of the Christmas kitty.

She came out about half an hour ago and was crying, she let me pick her up and cuddle her and then she got down and ran off, unfortunately she met Smartie who is usually one of the most laid back kitties ever, well,i have seen a very different side, she growled and hissed and growled at me,I just tried to fuss her and reassure her,I have moved the kitten to being on her own again,I think I may have a sleepless night as her foster carer said she hates being alone at night. All the cats even though the others haven't seen her are acting as if they know and stalking round looking for her,it will just take time and I am not going to upset any of them.x

Ooooo how exciting!

Ruthy, when you bring home a new kitty, because cats are territorial, it's best if they have a small space at first that's their "safe" place while they get used to all the new sounds and smells. :rub: Then you take steps to make introductions to the other cats, so they don't just get upset about a new cat being an invader in their territory, and so the new kitty isn't scared about being the invader. :)

The information in these articles - a lot you may know - but it may help. But can the new kitty be set up in one of the kids bedrooms or something - with the door kept closed for a few days or a week (or two) if it takes that long?

http://www.thecatsite.com/a/bringing-home-a-new-cat This will mostly be moot because of your other kitties - but this IS a kitten, so you might want to look at things a little differently. :lol3: This article may help with that...

About introductions, and how to make them go more smoothly: http://www.thecatsite.com/a/introducing-cats-to-cats

:D :hugs: :rub:  Most importantly - HAVE FUN!

Thanks hun, some great help there,I have kept her on her own,I know the other cats know she's here and Smartie really scared me last night I have never seen her like that but I remember when Smartie came into the house it was the same.I hardly slept last night as Angel-as I have decided to call her after some great suggestions from everyone -came onto the bed curled up but then was up and down all night, omg I have never heard a kitty purr so loud, don't get me wrong I didn't mind but it is like having a new baby,I bet she's tired though as she hasn't slept either, she cried a little bit but  just kept fussing her.She hasn't ventured down to eat yet but I she knows where the food is and I would much rather her come down for it,I am sure she will.I have tried to reminf=d the other cats that she is a baby and when they meet her to be nice,I don't think they will take much notice

Angel, what a pretty name. She probably cried because she missed her brothers and sisters and because everything is so new for her. And right now, the other cats aren't amused at all. It will take time.

Even though we brought Mollipop home from the vet and we knew she had no disease or illnesses, I kept her in the computer room for awhile, just for her own peace of mind and to help the other cats a little bit. At night, she was out with us, but during the day, especially, when we were at work, Molli stayed in the computer room with lots of toys, food, water, and her little litter box. And then when she was here for about 3 weeks or so, we let her have the run of the house while we were gone.

I was a mess. I came home from work that first day during my lunch break.....and found her sprawled out in the window napping with the some of the other kids. And everything was fine. (And do you know that, to this day, when we bring "her" carrier up from the basement to take one of the kids to the vet, we'll put a blankie in the carrier, and she'll go in there and lie down? That was her little haven, I think, and she remembers.)

I just think that Angel needs a little space for now, to call her own. Until she gets used to new routines and and the other cats. And until they get used to her. There will be hissing and they'll have to teach her her place in the house. (Unless she's likes Mollipop and it turns out that she teaches them her place in the house!
 )

Congratulations to Angel....she'll be fine. It all takes a little time for everybody to get used to each other.

Congratulations on the new addition! :vibes: that she settles in quickly and the other kits accept her with little trouble.

Just let her do her own thing, but under your supervision (in case of fighting, etc.). That's what I always do--I have 9 cats, but only one is a problem cat with one other cat--the others adore each other, despite being brought in at very different times and ages. Cats need to find their comfort (hiding!) places, sniff around, explore and similar things. Let her do this at her own pace, and make a big fuss over your other cats in the meantime.

What a marvelous Christmas gift!!!! (No, I do NOT want a cat for my Christmas gift, my friends and family! Jewelry would do just fine right now! :-))
