Domino didn't show up for lunch. An indoor only cat, he always shows up for meals. Searched the house - no Domino. Looked in the garage - no luck. Basement - no cat. Heard an occasional "mew" near a pantry cabinet.

To jump to the end, Domino had somehow gotten between the tall pantry cabinet and adjacent wall, a space 4 fingers wide and partially blocked by a 2" X 4" spacer and some partial spacers.

Only thing we can think of is that he somehow got on top of the wall cabinets and dived down.

Everything out of the cabinets, including very heavy metal glide mechanism. Refrigerator out in the room. My husband had to cut a hole in the cabinet wall, very heavy good quality birch plywood. He had to start holes with a drill, then use a Dremel. I was afraid that Domino would get punctured but he flattened himself at the very back (and almost got behind the cabinet - which would have been a real mess!)

Had to scruff him and angle him out. Very tight space and I didn't want to catch his hind leg and wrench it. But he's O.K. not limping or anything.

He's eaten, and I have him in a quiet room, door closed, all necessary items provided.

Fortunately both boys have an appointment tomorrow morning for their annual check up etc. and my veterinarian will give him a good going over.

I, on the other hand, am now going to have a drink. Of something alcoholic.

I can't blame you for wanting a drink after that experience! Hopefully he'll give the cabinets a wide berth after all that.

OMGosh! I'm glad the boy is OK and survived no worse for wear. Hope you enjoyed your drink, too! Isn't it amazing how our cats do everything they to shorten our lives???

What a scare!  I'd need a drink (or more) after that experience.   Glad Domino is doing ok and you also!

Good lord! I would definitely have gone for the drink after that as well.

Poor boy and poor you! I'm glad he's okay.
