Christmas Dinner Menu? - Page 2

Finalized the menu just yesterday.....I'm totally not on the ball this year. rolleyes.gif

Appetizer are being provided by the inlaws so won't know what they are until they get here. Usually a cheese tray and homemade egg rolls.

Dinner

Smoked ham

au gratin potatoes (Pioner Woman recipe)

Broccoli casserole (pioneer woman again)

Green beans

corn casserole (pioneer woman yet again....sensing a theme yet?)

popovers

Dessert will be several different cookies and coconut pie.

Im actually going lite on desserts this year. I always make too many and end up throwing some out. And everyone is so full from the meal that they just don't eat much of it anyway.

We want to try the new grill out. I had bought appetizers during the week, and a gourmet cheesecake sampler today.  I got an iced tea maker for Christmas, so we're going to try that out, too.

For just 2 people, this will be GOOD! Yum!  We'll watch Netflix movies (love that on demand thingy!) by the fireplace.

Hey, why not?  Sounds wonderful to me laughing02.gif  Oh, and BTW, I LOVE my George Foreman.  Best investment I ever made (well....one of them anyway wink.gif)  Enjoy you movies by the fireplace!!

Yum, cheeseburgers sound good! We had the family dinner this evening - cheese lasagna and/or vegetable lasagna (with eggplant, zucchini, peppers and onions), a big mixed salad, and chocolate cake for dessert. It was a good choice, because I could get most of the mess cleaned up before our company arrived (we don't have a dining room, so that's something I take into consideration). Believe it or not, it was the first time my 87-year-old father-in-law ever ate lasagna, and he loved it. He's an incredibly picky eater, so usually you have to stick to standard German fare with him.

We will be having.....

Turkey and stuffing

Mashed potatoes

Gravy

Candied Yams

Cranberry sauce

Olives

Bisquits

And for dessert

Pumpkin pie and Chocolate Cupcakes

I will put my turkey in the oven right before we leave for church. I will bake my pie and cupcakes tonight. I will also chop the veggies for the stuffing and probably boil the yams tonight.

Are you talking about a Mr. Coffee Iced tea maker? If you are, you are going to LOVE it! A friend gave us one that she had hardly used, and we use it every day! We love it!

No, mine is a West Bend, but I'm sure I'll also love it! Actually, I think DH is going to be using it every day, instead of me!

Well, normally I use a canned or gravy mix for the gravy... But this time, since there was a lot of pan drippings, I thought I would make my own gravy.

It turned out totally AWESOME!!  Much better then the canned or mix. I think I will buy a better quality turkey every year since it makes a lot of drippings!
