What type of meat is most digestible?  Is venison easily digested by cat? or it varies from cat to cat?

I can't understand why my cat always gets really huge poop after eating venison, especially 95% evo venison or NV venison.

The poop becomes so big that it got stuck in his anus and made him hiss and hide under bed.  It was quite a scary scene actually.Does that mean venison is not well digested or absorbed?

Has that happened to anyone?  I asked people around me, they all said their cats are fine with venison.

He is fine with lamb, rabbit and chicken, now I wonder if beef would be ok.  I'm kinda afraid to try.  Can anyone give suggestion?

There are not many catfoods with venison in, but as far as I know there are no common side effects. Venison is often used for cats with allergies, as cats are unlikely to be allergic to it, so it is one of the main ingredients of hyperallergenic diets. One of mine is currently being tested for possible food allergies and he is trying it with no side effects so far. Feeding raw venison is different - I know it can be done, but the meat has to be fresh, not hung.I am sorry I can't be of more help but maybe someone more knowledgeable will come along and post soon.

Hi :). I have fed NV Venison canned variety too. But in rotation with many other wet foods. I have never noticed "large" poops after eating that. For some reason, my cat's started refusing VN Venison, so I stopped buying it. Don't know much about venison but do know it is easily digested according to the NV website. My cat's love the beef variety - so I think you should try it and see. Instinct is a very, very excellent food choice  but pricey :).

Thanks for sharing.  Maybe my cat's body can't digest venison well.   I will try NV beef!

My cats have food allergies so they have been eating a Royal Canin limited ingredient Veterinary Diet--- Venison and Pea (VP) for a couple of years. It has a lot of fiber from the peas so that does make their poops a little large but not uncomfortably so. They love it and seem to be doing well on it.

Good luck with your search for a good diet...
it can be really confusing sometimes.

I feed my cat Primal formula and raw meat, but I haven't tried the Venison flavor...mainly because it's not in the sampler packs and it's pricier than the other meat varieties. I'll have to try it out though one of these days.

I feed Ritz raw (frankenprey and commercial raw).  About a month ago, my nephew gave me some of last year's ground venison (he's a hunter).  Ritz had no problem eating it.

I do not know the fat content of venison.  If your cat is use to lower fat foods, a change in the fat content may upset his/her stomach.  The one time I fed Ritz raw pork, she threw it up.  I believe chicken is usally easy to digest; however, some cats are allergic to chicken (though not necessarily to all poultry).
