I am a cat magnet

Hey all,

I am down in huston tx for work. Last Saturday I found a mommy cat and her kitten. I was able to pet the mommy but not the kitten. I gave them some food and the kitten almost ate it all. After that I did not see them. Then Friday night I had some leftover fish that I thought I would put down just incase they happen to come by. Well I found out where they are living. I sat with them and gave them each a can of cat food.

I leave to go back home in 3 days. I feel really bad about leaving these cats. I have 7 feral cats that I have brought inside back home.

My wife will kill me if I trap and bring back 2 more from Texas.

What do I do ??

Could you find a rescue or feral group in that area, or one in your area that could help if you brought them with you?

I don't have any experience with ferals, but I empathize with you.  I would feel obligated to help too, but I wouldn't know what the best plan of action would be in this situation.  The cats definitely need help, though.

Yeah, I second that suggestion.

Next best if you find someone other, perhaps a coworker or neighbour down there, who agrees to proceed to work with them.

Perhaps a combination.    :)

Good luck!  *vibes*

HI wavey.gif I remember your story about Tiger?? How is Tiger? It seems you are a cat magnet - because you have such a big heart heartpump.gif. Gosh - I don't know if your wife would appreciate this - you bring home more cat's thud.gif..... I would agree with the above and try to find a rescue or local TNR organization to take over after you leave. AWWWW poor babies - I hope you can find some help for them cross.gif Bless you heart hugs.gifhugs.gifvibes.gifvibes.gifvibes.gifvibes.gifvibes.gifvibes.gifvibes.gifvibes.gifvibes.gifvibes.gif

Tiger has been renamed Missy. She is doing great and has gotten use to the house. She sleeps at my feet every night.

I have found two sites on facebook for Houston.

and

Hopefully someone will come and get them and give them a good home. I left them plenty of food.

Someone finally went and got them !!! I got this from Facebook today...

Hey Brain. I went by this afternoon and found them. Just wanted to let you know I was able to capture the kitten, he was a little freaked out when I got him...;o) The Momma is very sweet and I was able to pick her up and put her in the crate. I volunteer at CAP, a shelter off of I-10. I'm going to bring them there when they are ready for adoption. The kitten is not adoptable yet because he has trust issues but I think in a few weeks he'll be fine. I'm attaching my photo for you for your reassurance. I'll update you when I get some cute photos of them. Thank you for posting your help ad for these babies!!

What a great story to start the new year!

I was worried about them when I first read your post. Thanks to your kindness and efforts, these two kitties will have love and care.

Got an update on the cats....

The cats are doing really well. The Momma is finally using the litter box now....I think she just needed a few days to get use to her new enironment. The kitten is coming out of his shell. He's now not running away anymore when we walk into the room and also playing with toys. I believe the Momma is pregnant. ;o( We'll see in a month. They should be getting into the adoption program in a month or so depending on if she has kittens then it won't be for another 3 months.

OHHHHHHH I seriously have happy tears right now touched.gif I am SO grateful to you for your effort to save these cat's when you were in Houston. You deserve a medal clap.gifclap.gifclap.gifclap.gif This really made my day, this happy ending. You must feel SO very good inside for what you did. I am also so happy that they contacted you to give you an update. What a wonderful organization biggrin.gif. I hope momma cat is not pregnant cross.gif I thought my Dixie was pregnant again when I trapped her - but it was just that the older kitten's were still nursing off of her frown.gif - they were starving and it was so brutally cold outside. cold.gif So it is possible that this kitten kept nursing from her and she is still looking full. Keep us posted if you can - I am SOOOOOO happy!!! happy2.gifbiggrin.gif
