nutrition sticky

Is there any way we could get a sticky written for the amount of food/feeding schedule for a range of cat weights and different amounts of wet vs dry (i.e. feeding all dry, half dry/half wet, all wet, raw, etc)? It seems like at least half the posts in the nutrition forum deal with this same question, and it gets tiresome sifting through that to get to real questions. I realize people will still be stubborn and INSIST that THEIR cat is different and they need special advice, but this could cut at least some of the clutter.

Just look at the bag or can. If you free half wet and half dry, feed half serving of each. Each food is different because.of the calorie count. For example, go! Turkey, chicken and duck dry has more calories than most other.brands so I would feed less. It's based on your cat's weight, activity level and metabolism so each car will likely be different. So feed according to package then adjust depending if your cat is sedentary or more active. The amount to feed should be based on your cat's body condition. If you can feel your cat's ribs with a slight layer of fat without having to press with much pressure, and if you can see a discernible waist when looking from above:D (meaning it goes in like an hourglass) then your cat is in ideal body condition. If you can see his ribs then he is underwent so you would feed a bit more until he reaches his ideal weight. If you cannot feel his ribs and his waist goes out then he is overweight so feed a bit less.

All of which is true, SweetPea, but a sticky might help to dissuade people from making the same posts (and mistakes!) over and over again. While you and I and regulars know this, newbies don't necessarily. Why not type it up once instead of having to repeatedly restate?

Actually, stickies don't get as much attention as they should, and I suspect a multi-page table to cover all brands would get ignored. I'll look into creating an article about recommended calorie intake for cats - it is an interesting topic. Of course, being just part of the equation, it won't provide a definite answer, but hopefully it will help people understand their own cat's needs better.
