My cat is almost 2, and she is the most mischievous creature I've ever encountered.
Her favorite thing is "shredding." If it's any kind of material, she will shred it. I can't keep my toilet paper in a place she can reach it, or else I will find the entire roll shred to pieces. The same goes for tissues and paper towels. But now, she's moved on to grabbing shirts, sheets, towels, etc, and pulling out the threads. She even shred my computer chair and loveseat. I put towels over the arms of the loveseat to save it from getting shred more, and instead, she shred the towels! She doesn't sharpen her claws, just like to grab on and pull the threads out, where she sucks on them.
I don't know what to do. Every time she does it, she's chased away and spoken to sternly. I even resorted to spraying her with a spray bottle of water when she's doing it. The problem is, she doesn't take any of it seriously. She will look at me crazy and start running around, and then jump on her special "rug" where we play. I figure half the time she wants my attention, so I try to play with her and her toys other times so she doesn't feel the need to resort to the shredding. But, I still can't get her to stop with the threads, and my nice clothes and furniture are being ruined. What can I do to stop her?
