Found another growth....very upset.

Thread Starter

I found another growth on Lexi's knot. She was very irritated if I touched it so I decided to take her in to have it checked out.

The vet definitely thinks it is something and I am keeping her there overnight so that all three vets can look at her tomorrow and decide if it should be removed and be sent out to see if her cancer has come back.

This really sucks - I am closest to her and I don't know what to do without her should I have to put her down.

I hate it when my instincts are right because there are times I wish I were wrong.

This is very hard to take right now. I'll find out more in the morning and if they send it off.

I'm very sorry, I'll be sending vibes.gifvibes.gifvibes.gif that your instincts are wrong.

vibes.gifvibes.gifvibes.gifvibes.gifvibes.gifvibes.gif For this NOT to be cancer again. AND hugs.gifhugs.gifhugs.gifhugs.gifhugs.gif to you tonight as you have to wait till tomorrow to find out the next step. It is good you noticed this and took her in right away. Usually, cancer is not painful, right ??? So let's just hope that it is some kind of cyst. I do know how your mind takes over and you just think the worst. I am the "QUEEN" at thinking the worst right away. Sometimes, knowledge makes us more crazy with worry over our kitties. Hang in there tonight - and you have support here 100% hugs.gifvibes.gif

Thank you so much! Yes, I worry like crazy. I hope that it is just nothing and some weird nerve or scarring that has occurred from when they removed her leg.

She is the sweetest girl ever and it pains me to see her have to suffer all.

I am tired of having to see my family suffer (both human and animal) and am waiting for once for something good to happen.

They were very busy at the vet so they are doing the surgery this afternoon to remove her tumor.

It will be sent off to be biopsied.

If it is her cancer - then I know she probably only has months as it is an aggressive form of cancer. I will not subject her to countless injections and misery.

I should know more by next week.

Thanks everyone.

She is doing as well as she can under the circumstances. She stayed in her carrier all night on my bed, but did come out for a bit to sleep with me.

She ended up peeing on the towel I had in there....poor girl....it probably hurt too much for her to get up so I don't blame her.

I have everything in the washer right now and put her on the floor with many blankets both underneath and on top of her. She is in my room right now where none of the other cats can get to her and has some peace.

I did go get some more pain killer for her this morning. I would rather give her extra than not enough.

I am hoping it is just scar tissue, but it was grape size so I doubt it.

Lots of vibes.gifvibes.gifvibes.gifvibes.gifcoming that it's something benign. I know dogs can get random, harmless fatty lumps as the age, hopefully it's something like that.

hugs.gif for both of you.

I got a call from the vet today hoping for the best, but being prepared for the worst. It never seems to end - the suffering. Not on my end, but having to see it over and over and sitting helplessly on the side.

It is her sarcoma and it has come back. It is a very aggressive form which means I have a limited amount of time.

I'm going to explore all options before making any decisions and try to make the best judgement with as little pain to her as possible.

I know her time is going to run out, but I will give her the best chance she has with the best possible quality of life she has left to live.

I owe her that much for teaching me that despite as miserable her life was before me that it is still better to be kind and loving instead of hateful. heartpump.gif

I care for all my cats, but I have a special bond with her - one that can't be broken.

This will probably be harder than anything I have ever done.

Thanks everyone for your kind words. heartpump.gif

My plan is to see an oncologist so that I can have more information before deciding what the next best step would be for her.

I have seen the human race have to suffer with cancer with no end it sight and for that very reason I will not allow her to endure any pain that is unnecessary. The human race can be very cruel to itself.

I'll keep you all posted. My first step is to make an appt for a consult with the oncologist.

I am so sorry to hear about your kitty.

Try and take things one day at a time. And I wish you strength to get through all of this.

That is terrible. Poor kitty. I lost a kitten 10 months ago. It was so heartbreaking. I don't know much about this disease, I admit, but it is equally heartbreaking to come onto this thread and see a story of a kitty with cancer. I will say a prayer for you and your cat.

Thanks everyone....I have an appointment with the oncologist for Lexi on the 2nd of January.

The more information I have the better decision I can make for her.

Many hugs for you and Lexi over the Christmas period.hugs.gif

hugs.gifhugs.gifhugs.gif I'm glad you're taking this step. I don't know anything about this type of cancer. Lazlo has lymphosarcoma, a mass in his stomach. I DO know that cancer treatment in cats is very different than in humans. The goals are all in regards to quality of life, not the length of life. heartpump.gif Doses given are much less relative to body size than in people, so the problems and side-effects you see in people are rare in cats.

I continue to hold you and Lexi close in my thoughts! hugs.gifhugs.gifhugs.gifvibes.gifvibes.gifvibes.gif
