Hi and welcome to the TCS site and our Forums!

If you dont know the breed, it means you dont have any papers (no pedigree certificate).

So your baby is shorthaired domestic, blue color  (grey is called blue in cat fanciers jargong).

Others would say house cat, a nice moggie or alike.    :)

If you want to compare her to some breed, I think  Russian blue is the nearest. Possibly Korat, but

I would say somewhat alike a Russian blue of pet quality.

Nice cat!    :)

Good luck!

If you found her "lost in the city" she may have gone astray. Or got dumped.

Because a homeless semi-ferale wouldnt look lost in streets. It would live there.

If dumped, hopefully you will want to be the new owner.

But if she got astray, perhaps sneaked out because she rode loose in a car and somebody opened the door...  Please do seek after the owner.

Please set up messages:  "White cat found".   Dont describe too exactly how she is looking. Let the owner identyfy her. Let him give accurate description.   Use a prepayed mobil phone card if possible.

If you get her a check up with a veterinarian (recommend!), the vet can see if she has a identyfying micro-chip.    IF she is purebred, she probably will have a microchip.

Does she seems to have parasites?  Fleas, worms?  If not, she was astray/dumped very recently.

If yes - be careful with what medicines you use. Use only such recommended by a vet or buyed in a pharmacia/apothece.  Dewormers /anti fleas buyed in pet shops are often dangerous.

OK.  What breed look alike your beauty is? Dont know.

Turkish angora perhaps?

I suppose there are such as white longhaired oriental? It has surely some fancy name - another than

longhaired foreign white?  ah, Javanese is longhaired oriental, thus

perhaps a look alike of a white javanese??

Two guesses  on this beuty.

Good luck!

Thanks a lot.. I'm guessing she was dumped coz her color was a grayish yellow when I found her & she was in bad shape :( I got her checked & vaccinated. she is perfectly healthy now. She has no chip or collar. I also put up flyers in the near by park, No one asked about her for over a month now. She is adorable & if she has no home I'd love to keep her with me.

We obtained these two (sisters?) from the SPCA. I know their domestics, but if you had to choose a breed that they resembled, what would it be? The whiter one is a long haired and the darker calico is short haired. Is it possible for siblings to have different hair lengths?

No breeds, they are "just" domestics.

It is possible for siblings to have different fur length, depends on the parents and what they carry.

She's a domestic long hair. Very pretty girl, you've done a great job looking after her, she's gorgeous.

Siblings can not only have different fur length, they can have different fathers!  To me they don't resemble any breed in particular, they are simply gorgoeus moggies.

Hi all,

His name is Yoda and he is 5 moths old. We took it from shelter so the breed was not priority during that time but now we wonder what kind he is :p

We thought first he is persian but as far as he grow older we saw that he is not. So now we think he may be britishshorthair mix with persian.  The first owners left him to shelter and stated his breed as persian definately.

I agree some mix of persian - british is a likely candidade. Handsome boy.

As he is 5 month now, I suppose you are planning on to neuter him soon?    :)

[edit. tx Carolina for the idea.  You Abso can perhaps compare him to a pet quality Exotic, ie short haired Persian.  If you want to compare with something.   :)  ]

Good luck!

Abso, Your cat is a short hair Exotic...... Basically, a short Hair Persian, pet quality http://www.cfa.org/client/breedExotic.aspx I wouldn't have much doubt of him being a pure bred either.... He does look like one
You should neuter him ASAP........ by the way......

Personally I would be amazed if there was a drop of pedigree blood in either cat.  I don't wish to do them down in any way - the are gorgeous - but the are not pedigre cats, they do not like like anything I've seen being shown in the UK.  And personally I am completely perplexed at the desire to know 'what breed' a non-pedigree cat is.

Are you talking about the cat in the video? Funny.... I have no doubt in my mind that cat is an exotic.
Unfortunately, with the state of the economy, there are owners who do take purebred cats to the shelter. RARE, indeed, but not impossible. Being that persians are the #1 breed in the US, makes that even more so.
A couple of weeks ago there were 2 pure bred bengals - 100% pure bred taken to a shelter in Florida. Florida has a huge BYB problem for Bengals..... It happens.....
That cat in the video is not just a domestic short hair, IMHO no way. The face, the nose, the hanging cheeks, the round copper eyes..... the short round tail.... It has Exotic all over it.

She looks like she may be part Turkish Angora.   High set ears, coloring and face shape are close to a Turkish Angora.   Hard to really tell from a still picture but look up that breed description and see if it fits.   They are one of the sweetest, most personable breeds.   I have two that are 1/2  Turkish Angora.   Wonderfully sweet and highly intelligent cats.

Should also perhaps be noted that majority who reply do not breed or show cats ;)

Moggies are lovely, I don't understand the need to label them either.

Well.... yeah.... But if they are posting, they must have their personal reasons and curiosity..... and are not here to have judgement passed upon them IMHO.

I was talking about the two in the photos.  I agree the one in the video could be Exoric, or Persian cross.  Personally i'd go for Persian cross as it's ears are far too large and it's face is far less squashed up than the purebred cats I've seen.  The face is far nicer IMHO...

Thnx for the answers. So my cat is an exotic shorthair persian thats sth nice to know :)
Both of you guys told me to neuter him asap. Why is that? İs it because of 5 months or the breed speciality or sth else?
