I have a kitty who is going on 9 years old, and I notice a lot of foods upset his stomach.

Besides "Vet Prescribed Diets", does anyone know of any other foods/formulas/options that I could try?

He can be pretty picky.

I'm feeding him Friskies Wet food currently, augmented with free-range kibble, a mix of Friskies Dry and Grandma Mae's.

It's probably not the best I could feed him.

I also give him a variety of treats, including freeze-dried, raw and Temptations/anything else I can find at a reasonable price.

Ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Price does not matter, nor does it matter whether it's Senior or not. (I'll probably begin augmenting more Senior stuff into his diet at his next birthday).

If he's having tummy issues, I would try all of these, one at a time until they disappear:
A. cut out the dry food
B. feed only freeze-dried or raw treats
B. stick to one food
C. pick a food with limited ingredients

Also, I wouldn't bother switching to senior food. It usually contains more carbs than regular food which could make him fat and/or upset his system more.

Any brand-wise ideas?

I work at a pet store, so I have access to a lot of brands, plus there's the internet.

He also love gravy. Dunno if that matters or not.

I give my sensitive stomach kitty Evo 95% chicken and turkey and she loves it.  I think

any grain-free wet food would be a good thing to try for sensitive stomachs.

I would also avoid anything with fish as it can cause problems for a lot of cats.

IMHO you are mixing way too much stuff into his diet.... I would pick one dry.... Preferable a simple formula or limited ingredients. Or, if you can afford, switch to canned or raw...... entirely. Again, keep it simple formulas on the wet too. I like the idea of the Evo 95%. Does your store sell Natural Balance? They have a whole line of limited ingredients diet - in both wet and dry....
Cut the treats (unless it is the freeze dry, and even so, I would keep it on the same protein he is eating on the canned), cut all this extra stuff.
Keep it plain and simple.
Friskies is definitely one to cause issue if he has sensitivities. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

I know I'm new here and all that, but I really wanted to chime in real quickly. Apollo is a young boy, but I've had issues with his digestive track for months. I could go into the details and the medication and the tests, but that would take me an hour to type out.

ike others have said, I also think you're mixing his food too much. That can upset his tummy more and more. I would seriously consider taking dry kibble out of the picture completely and go with a good quality grain free canned food. PetSmart carries some flavors of Wellness, but they're pretty limited for options of good food.

If you find a small mom and pop type shop (or if you even work at one?), they should have a bigger selection of high quality grain-free canned. If the selection is limited, you can ask them to order more. I have to do this now, lol.

I give Apollo (keep in mind he is less than a year old,) Wellness and Wellness Core. Chicken, Turkey, Liver, and some fish flavors on occasion. I'd rather go fish-free because a lot of cats have weird allergies to fish, but .. I just limit the fish to once a week. He isn't a big fan of venison or beef or duck, even.. So it's difficult.

Anyway! You could try Evo, Wellness, Innova, By Nature, etc. Just keep in mind, that if you start feeding him canned-only, be certain to mix a different brand 50/50 with a brand he's used to. A lot of them have different amounts of proteins and etc that can actually upset kitty's tummy. It doesn't have to be a weeks-long transition as with switching dry foods, but it still can upset kitty's tummy.

If you want more options, you can google grain-free canned food and a lot of different brands will come up. Good luck!

An update: I've started to feed Buddy mainly Avoderm wet food. It's got limited ingredients, and no bad gravy. He scarfs it down like it's the best thing in the world.

I have also started to feed him Royal Canin Protein Preference.

Since I started to, I've noticed less incidents ending in him vomiting and he's also become a lot more active.
