Hi from Ohio

We (My boyfriend & I) are proud owners of 2 parrots - A Catalina Macaw & a Timneh African Grey. All of my life Ive had a cat, and in July I had to put down my longest living cat that was 14 years old!!! I thought when she went with our father that Id not want another & months passed, and I didnt. Then I started getting really depressed & I realized it was I was missing my mischevious, loving, loyal feline companion! I call the shelter that day to ask if they had any Siamese in because ive ALWAYS wanted on ... sure enough they had several in! They had 3 baby kittens (8 weeks) 4 male brothers that were raised there (9 months) and 1 lonley kitten (5 months) I ran right over & as soon as I saw the little loney kitten I feel in LOVE, with the cross eye, the kink in the tail, the way she looked at me was all it took! She is soooo sweet  & social, lovable but also independant. Then as we scanned through the small caarrier of the 4 brothers, 1 all pushed to the back. I pulled him out, he was all over my boyfriends shoulders like a scarf. Then he began licking & chewing on his hair & skull my b/f was laughing so hard he couldnt breathe. So we knew it was him!!

Eletra had to stay awhile longer because some of her blood work was off & hadnt gotten fixed yet. So we went to visit her every day, for 3 days. Then I asked to foster her until she was to be fixed, so we had her for a little over a week here with us & it was great - the 2 got along great. We'd often find them snuggled up in a chair or on the bed LoL! It broke my heart to have to take her back even just as short of time as 3 days for her surgery. We went back to visit her, and she had gotten a URI -- her eye was bleeding & oozing puss, she was drooling all over & had no spunk or energy. I was bawling as the workers said it was common with there imune system down/stressed for cats to contract the URI in the shelter. So again, I went everyday bought her a vicks steamer, specail food, pepermint oil for her toes (all to help her heal faster & feel better in the mean time) The manager of the shelter was amazed at her demeaner & transition just over night of the vicks & pepermint oils I explained it to her & now she is thinking some later units for other cats with the URI. So, she has 2 more days of antibodics, Im going to ask tomarrow if we cant bring her homw since she would then only have 1 more dose, just to get her out of the kennel ect. Then take her back on the 8th to get her last meds (YAY)

They (cats) are doing very well leaving the parrots along. If/when the cats get near the parrots they get the squirt bottle & a approprate toy to play with. I think this is going to be exactly what our family was lacking. I believe every EVERY family needs at least 1 cat for there own personal well being. ALso there are so many thousands of cat that just dont get adopted ppl give them away so they dont get cared about as much as they woud if they were given $50.00 for the cat. Anyway .. theres my story I know its long ... and we dont have humans kids nor could we afford any with my 4 kids/family LoL!

Ty! I posted something asking for help. Because Im wondering if my girl eletcra is a siamese or a tonkinese -- Ive been searching for christmas ornaments, and ran across some tonki's that look identical to her ... where the siamese are more narrow headed & face shaped. I dont see that post now though :(
