Introducing a new adult cat to a current kitten

I've heard a great deal about how to introduce a new kitten to an already established cat, but haven't been able to find any information on introducing a new adult cat to a current kitten. I adopted a kitten from the local Humane Society about 3 weeks ago (my cat of 15 years died some seven months ago), and currently she's an only cat. She is now just four months old, and I'm intending to adopt a second cat in the coming weeks (a 3 year old female Birman from a local shelter, she is an owner surrender). The adult (Noelle) is very sweet and gets along with the other animals at the shelter, and my kitten (Bryta) was fostered prior to adoption in a home with numerous other pets. My question is, should I introduce Noelle with the same considerations as if the ages were reversed (new kitten to established adult)? Or should I take more precautions- will Bryta be more intimidating to Noelle than another adult cat/etc.? I do have a safe room set up, but all of the recommendations for making introductions/what to expect, etc. that I've found only address bringing in either a new adult or new kitten to already established adult cats. I just want to be sure I start things off properly for both of them, and can make sure they're both as comfortable as possible with the change. Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

I would think its the same set up.. keep them separated, scent exchange and such.

Thank you :) I'll keep following that idea then, I wondered if the new girl would need more time, so we'll see how it goes.
