Mum and Kitten re-homed from Rescue Centre - Not getting on together since

We have recently re-homed a mum and kitten from a rescue centre. Mum is around 2 years old and kitten is 3.5 months.

Both shared a pen in the rescue centre and got on fine, they were very close. There were 6 other kittens that were born to the mum in the rescue centre and these were re-homed first leaving these 2 together. The kitten is very small for her age.

Since we brought them home mum is not tolerant of the kitten, hissing at her and growling. This isn't just when the kitten approaches her but also when the kitten is doing her own thing mum will seek her out to hiss and bat.

Both are lovely natured and have fantastic temperment with people and with us.

Any advice on what to do to make things easier for them would be much appreciated.

Thank you :-)

Welcome to TCS! wavey.gif

Sometimes a change in environment can make kitties who are familiar with each other not get along. How long have they been home with you?

Thanks White Cat Lover catman.gif

They have been here a few days now, kitten is getting braver and doesn't seem as bothered by mums bats and hisses. Not sure if its a bit of the green eyed monster from mum!
