Is there a new cat food recall?

I know for a fact, a major brand cat food has just been taken off the shelfs of a big box retailer and labeled "recall".   The recall may  not mean its contaminated food, it may mean the cat food is not selling and the cat food company is recaallng the cat food.   i dont know which is the case so that  is why i posted.

Are you talking about the Iams / Eukanuba recall? The company is labeling their action a "product pull" rather than a recall (*eye roll*), and it apparently affects 11 different kinds of cat and dog Iams and Eukanuba kibbles. According to correspondence with the company, 3,264 cases of pet foods have been / are being pulled from Price Chopper and Petco shelves, due to aflatoxin concerns, and the vendors have been told to destroy the product.

 

This has been reported through several outlets, but http://www.petsitusa.com/blog/ has the most detailed information, via their comments section.

I can't check the site that was posted right now (on my phone) but does anyone know the lot codes and if it was just US Iams/Eukanuba that was recalled? I don't feed it but we do sell it at work...

FYI you can tell us the name of the cat food in the thread next time you suspect there is a recall, there is no rule against it. In fact, I would add it to the thread title too so people who buy that food will immediately check the thread to see if they need to stop feeding a certain food to their kittkies. Anyway, thanks for bringing this to our attention. I'm sure this helps a lot of people on the East Coast, where all of the "recalled" food was delivered.

Good thing I stopping buyinh that brand. My cats love it. But Proctol ( Darn! can't get the spelling)and Gamble bought it and they test on animals and I have to say no to any of their products.

The 'product pull' sounds like them.

Have to be careful in this day of age.
