Mine aren't very exciting, I'm afraid!  I have little patience with Christmas decorating; I hate putting lights & ornaments on the tree, and removing them!  I just bought a new tree that came with lights on it.  I decorated it with red and silver unbreakable ornaments (cats!) and candy canes, and have a large, red fabric bow in lieu of a star at the top.

I don't even do outdoor lights, I'm so lazy!  I do hang a real garland around the front door, and a real wreath on the door, and put a (real) spray of green swith a red bow on the mailbox.  I usually put something festive around the neck of Rosenkranz ("Rosie"), my Victorian dog statue, that's on the front porch.  (He also gets a red satin cape and black mask for Halloween.)  Once, in a rare mood of festive friskiness, I did put a 6-ft tall Alpine tree, with clear lights, on the porch.

The neighbors make up for my Christmas underachiever attitude.  They have a plethora of inflatable things, and colored lights, all mish-mashed together with no rhyme nor reason. It looks like an amusement park on my street! I half expect a Ferris wheel and carnival music...

I used to have a ceramic Nativity, but the cats broke one the Wise Man's head off.

Here are some pictures from a few years ago......I haven't taken any pictures from this year yet.

We don't have a fireplace, so our stockings are hung on the stair railing with care. smile.gif

This is the kids' kitty couch and is favorite place for naps during the winter time when I have the pillows and their Christmas blankie draped on it. From several years ago, this is our Bridge baby, Banshee, taking a well-deserved nap.

Decades ago, my great-grandmother made this green ceramic Christmas tree. She gave it to me right before she died and I put it out every year. My parents gave us the brass sleigh and reindeer.

How we usually decorate around the piano.....that green tree was given to my by my Aunt Dot, who did beautiful ceramics.

Even Mother Nature gets into decorating for us for Christmas. One morning, we awakened to this beautiful display! Rick looked out our living room window and immediately got dressed and ran outside for this picture.

XmasMorning.jpg

But Nature can be fickle, too......we had a huge ice storm, which encased all of the outside lights in ice. It was treacherous and nobody made it to our house for Christmas. But that night, when we turned the outside lights on everything was buried in ice? Beautiful!

Thanks for looking!

Nebula, I love the garlands and the musical stuffies, and Winchester, your white tree is (was?) beautiful, and I love the one your grandmother made. You both have beautiful treasures!

Pics below are from last year; we alternate years with red/gold decorations and then blue/silver. Don't have things together yet for this year, but the blue/silver are my favorite.

Below: even though it's red, I still put this ornament on the tree, we almost lost Lily last November and I was celebrating that she was still with us! heartpump.gif

She was my Christmas present from my husband in 2005. smile.gif

Below: I made these stockings to match the pillows I made (next pic). We needed more blue accents in the room.

Toffle's first Christmas with us. He liked the new pillows.

You make such a good looking couple! Gary's dimples are just adorable.

I'll post pics of our house....as soon as I get it decorated! laughing02.gif We normally don't put up the tree and decorations until the week before Christmas but we're running a little behind this year, even for us. DH has the stomach flu so everything is at a stand still right now. My family never put up the tree until a few days before Christmas and I still have that mentality. With the cats and 3 big dogs (with 3 BIG wagging tails that knock off all the ornaments anyway) it's usually easier to wait until right before Christmas. Less damage that way!

I'm a poor college kid living in a small apartment, so unfortunately I can't go all out with decorations!

Our tree last year:

Spongebob stockings I made out of pj pants from Goodwill:

Our tree this year. Pretty much the same, we're just in a different apartment.

Many years ago, I had a snowman themed tree - Blue, Silver, and White with white lights.

IMG_4997mod.jpg

I adored it...but my husband (and later my kids too) called it "mom's Macy's Tree" and my dh said it made Christmas feel like a display to him.  He and the kids wanted colored lights and hand made ornaments.  Not my cuppa, but you do what it takes to make them happy, I guess.  Here is this year's color lighted handmade fiasco...er I mean, tree (with a really adorable gray and white kitty standing beside it ;) :

IMG_1002.JPG

And THIS is my little corner of joy.  :)  I have transitioned from snowmen to roosters and this is my kitchen tree all based around my rooster decor.  :)

My Willowtree nativity.  I think they came out with a new one this year, but this is the original.
