I finished my two weeks training yesterday and i started my new job as a home carer today at 7am,the job is what I expected and I think I am going to really enjoy it.More so as we went to a lady today who I told was quite difficult and doesn't get on with many of the carers and she moans a lot.Well as soon as I walked in I saw one of her cats,a gorgeous, really big white and black male called Farah so immediately I struck up conversation with her about her cat and then in walked another one,an even bigger black and white male called Booty and he is amazing he taks to you and is so loving,Farah is a bit more laid back but i talked to the lady for ages and told her all about my cats which she loved.Part of my job role is to look after her kitties!!!! Wow and wow,I love these kitties and the lady who is supposed to be bad tempered was lovely,my colleague said she couldn't believe the difference in her.I said well cat lovers always bond!!
I am going tomorrow to her and I hope to go there a lot more.x

What a great story!

So many health care providers do not build up any rapport with their clients.

I would bet the others where you work did not take the time to know her.

I'm so glad it's going well for you Ruthy! And who would have thought you would have found another cat lover
(Ruth = cat magnet)! I agree, I don't think anyone else spent the time to talk to and get to know the woman. Cats bring everyone together I think.

That sounds like a really great start and also rewarding! You'll not only be helping humans, but also their pets.

Ah thats really great, its amazing how much people open up when they find there is someone else that loves their pets, be it cats, dogs or anything else, it sounds to me that you, this lady and her cats are going to get on just fine

Oh no,I learnt today that she is in hospital, she was taken in earlier today. My colleague went to feed and check on the cats but I am concerned so I am going to ring work in the morning and make sure that someone will be reguarly going to feed them and change the litter tray.I am truly gutted. One rule is that we are not supposed to get emotionally involved with the people that we visit but I am finding this one hard.x

Ruthy, it will be hard on you, that way. :heart3: How can YOU not get emotionally involved? You care so much! :vibes: :vibes: :vibes: for her (and her kitties). :hugs:

I am sure they tell you or advise you not to get emotionally involved but how could you not ? That would be very difficult. :hugs: And especially another cat lover :heart2: Hope this lady will be alright and back with her kitties :cross: :vibes::vibes:
