OK.. who replaced Monet?

I've noticed over the past few days (since monday evening really) that Monet appears to have had his personality replaced.

He's become much more loving. Normally if he's sitting on the floor and I approach to pet him, he'd walk off. This time, he sits and let me pet him.
When I sit on the floor, he never approaches me. He's been approaching me lately. He's also been letting me pick him up and hold him for more than a few seconds now.

He seems to have fully 100% accept Picasso as he's no longer swatting at her when she gets too close to him in play.. I even caught him grooming her earlier and he hasn't done that since I brought her home.

And he's becoming much more playful when Picasso is around and playing with da Bird. He's been joining in more and more where he'd sit on the sidelines and watch previously.

I feel like I have a different cat in his skin. Is it common for a cat to change his personality like this? he's 2.5 - 3 years old. Kinda strange, and almost (almost) have me a bit worried! Lol

My sister's huge lab totally came out of his shell about six months back at around age 3 as well.     Who knows the reason, but great news is great news.   Glad that Monet is well adjusted and obviously feeling great and confident.   highfive.gif

laughing02.gif Billy's been living with us for three years. Earlier this year he just totally came out of his shell. He stopped being completely submissive to the other cats, and just ... "blossomed." laughing02.gif Chumley's been with us two years, and is doing better... I hope the same thing happens to him this spring! rub.gif

My theory is that at three... they're past the toddler/high school age, and it's more like they're kids graduating from college who become friends with their parents again having gotten all the "kid" thing out of their systems. laughing02.gif

Memphis had a personality tweak just last month, and he's also 2 1/2 years old. When I got him last year, he would only let me pet his head, and would swat my hand if I tried petting his body. It got better little by little, but nothing drastic happened. Until last month. Last month, he started sitting on my lap while I was watching tv. That freaked me out, let me tell you. All of a sudden my cat, who is friendly but by no means a lap cat, jumped up and laid down in my lap, begging me to pet him. It wasn't an isolated event, either. He has been doing the same thing every day since then. He'll stand on my lap and knead my stomach/chest for 10 - 15 minutes, then settle down for an hour of lap cat time. He gets so into it that his nose starts leaking like a fountain, which is both disgusting (where do you tink all the snot lands? yep, my lap) and absolutely adorable. I can't explain it myself, but I love it. Now if I could just get the one year old, Tails, to do the same thing...

My first siamses cat Whiskey had the same thing at around 5 years. She got stuck in a tree for a few days and we had to rescue her and after that became a lap cat whereas before she didn't want anything to do with a human unless they were playing with her. I'm really hoping Isis will settle down when she hits 3ish...we recalculated her age and she's about 2.5 now cross.gif

Jade's personality did a 180 at around 3 years.

All she used to be interested in was play, play, play, now she is almost annoyingly affectionate.

Spaz turned cuddly at two years.

Baby was around two when she adopted me, so no clue on her, but she is very lovey, and vocally demanding about it.

I am seeing a pattern here with personality changes around 3 years of age. Hmmm
