Anyone have of the the styles of these pillows and and positive or negative feedback would be great.  Thinking of putting this on my Christmas list.

I can't afford an actual Tempur Pedic pillow, but I have used memory foam ones. I like my current one which was around $40 from Zellers (K Mart/Target like store) and is sculpted with one edge thicker than the other. It's been good most of the time, very comfortable, but lately I've noticed it's getting squished quicker than it used to. It's about a year old. I guess they have a limited lifespan, but a year of constant use seems reasonable to me.

I too, have a knock off version of it. I absolutely LOVE it. I've even given them as gifts, lol. I use the smaller "hump" most of the times, or the flat side. I don't wake up with back/neck pain when I use it.
Mine did get softer too...but only after it fell between the bed and the wall, over the heater. It sat there for several hours. It hasn't been quite the same since but it still is definitely comfortable.

I certainly recommend at least trying it.

I have a memory foam pillow, too. I'm pretty sure it's not Tempur-pedic brand. . .whatever brand Sam's Club has at $40 for 2 pillows :lol3:. I tried another type but it was too thick for me, and I don't like the funny-shaped kind either. This one is thinner and shaped like a regular old-fashioned pillow, not molded or gusseted or anything.

One thing to mention is that I had to leave the pillow in the garage unwrapped to air out for a week or 2 before using it. The offgassing was terrible.

I recently bought a similar pillow from costco. It also has gel in it. Has 2 sides. One is more firm the other is softer. Kinda like laying on a brick for the first few minutes until your body heat softens it up. I love it though!. I'm very picky about my pillow firmness and this one is just right. My friend has the same pillow and loves it just as much. It was $30 and seems to be of good quality.

DH got one a few months ago.  It's a Walmart one; not sure the brand.  He didn't like it and stole my 2nd pillow.  So it's become my 2nd pillow.

He is more of a belly sleeper; so that might be why.  And yes the off-gassing was awful.  But we don't notice it now.

I gave mine away, I hated it.

Now I do have a pillowcase that is stuffed with memory foam on one side and down on the other, way more comfortable...why did I let DH steal it?

Tempur-pedic isn't really necessary, just look at the density and buy from a manufacturer that doesn't have a 50% brand-name markup.

I absolutely LOVE my memory foam pillows though.   And my memory foam bed for that matter, heh.    The downside of any polyurethane foams though is that they don't breath well, and thus will feel warmer than alternatives.   The solution to this is to use coolmax linings or just thick ribbed cotton zipped covers over the pillows, and then with your pillow case over that it helps a bit.

I forget the exact model, but mine were the higher end Serta pillows.

The one thing to be careful of though is that polyurethane is expensive.    So what some cheapos do is give very low densities (use less material that way) or call it a memory foam pillow when its really just two thin sheets of memory foam sandwiching cheap fiberfill in the middle.    Its a bit better, but nothing like a full memory foam pillow, so buyer beware.

I did stop at the tempur pedic store and the salesperson said choosing the pillow also depends on the firmness ( not not) of one's mattress.  I didn't know serta made one and I'm checking to see what epinions and amazon ratings are before the final decision.  Thanks for the input.

I can't imagine how that would matter.   Probably just a marketing thing they are told to say to get you to buy a "matching" tempur pedic bed.   Firmness is subjective, as is thickness.   I sleep with my arm under the pillow with my head over my bicep, so I don't like a pillow that is too firm or thick.   Someone that sleeps on their back on the other hand might prefer a firmer one molded to that position, such as some of the shaped pillows.

You really just have to try em out, so at least initially I'd buy from somewhere locally you can return the product to.   If you like it, you can still return it and buy it online.
