Red Tape

I just had to tell you guys about this. Too funny and soooo stupid.

I am the "account manager" (contact person) for communication purposes with the supplemental insurance company used by the employees where I work. I noticed that on the new bill, my policy is missing. I sent an electronic message through the website inquiring why yesterday.

I received an email today stating that they could not discuss this with me for privacy reasons and that I should call my agent.

I am the contact person AND it is MY policy. doh3.gif

Ummm - yeah, right. My "favorite" experience with red tape was when Immigration insisted that my landlord fill out and sign a form stating how much living space I had. I explained that we were homeowners and therefore didn't have a landlord, but they insisted they had to have the form, so my husband signed it as my "landlord".laughing02.gif

Oh good grief!  I bet it was pretty much an automatic response.

I like Tricia's way of handling it! laughing02.gif

This is too funny! I work at a large Canadian insurance company, and sometimes people will contact in where they are the advisor/agent AND the customer in question. If they send the question through on their personal account I have to advise them to use their agent account for assistance, even if it'd still be me handling the inquiry. The privacy and confidentiality rules are sometimes so silly!
