Some of you may remember last year that Mollipop was still a bit of a kitten last year at Christmas. And when we put the trees up, she loved to play in them, take the ornaments down and use them as toys, and just generally do what kittens do to trees. We put out a basket and every ornament that she removed from the trees, we put into the basket. By the time we took the trees down on New Years Day, there were almost 30 ornaments in the basket.

Well, now we have Mollipop and Tabby. We put our living room tree up on Sunday. As of this morning, we have 12 ornaments in the basket!
Those girls! Terrors on paws....both of them.  We put a smal stuffed kitty at the bottom of the tree; when you press on it, it Meows to the tune of We Wish You a Merry Christmas. Well, Tabby grabbed it on Sunday night and was playing with it, but she couldn't get it off the tree. And she must have squeezed it just right with her teeth because suddenly, the "Meow, meow, meow, meow, meow, meow, meow, meow," started in. Tabby's eyes got big, her tail bushed out, and she chirped and took off back the hallway. I went back to the bedroom and she was under the bed, looking out at me! She came out to me and she was chattering away at me. "Mom! What was that thing? Mom, Iz sceered!"

Well, she still hangs out under the tree (the 12 ornaments in the basket prove that), but she leaves that little stuffed kitty alone!

Girls will be Girls :lol3: :lol2: And the ornament's are just their toys anyway, right ??? LOL.... They just cannot figure out WHY you put their toys in that tree . I want one of those "stuffed meowing kitties" :hyper: I am not sure I even want to put up the tree this year ... Five of my cat's are just over a year and would absolutely think the tree is a challenge to retrieve those new toys :D

LOL!  I can just picture that!!
Poor girl learned herself a lesson!  Maybe!

I still haven't put any ornaments on our tree.  So far DD just had to touch every single light.

At least you get to put up your tree. My 2 can't be trusted, that's why all the Christmas decorations are in the kitchen. That seems to be the 1 room the cats leave alone. 2 Christmas houses are on top of the fridge. Red ribbons on the cabinet doors. Stockings hanging from the cabinet doorknobs
No tree this year, it barely survived Luna & Midnight last year.

Lynxx
never destroyed the Christmas tree. He used to love sleeping under it.

I just put up my tree, and I was joking with my bf that by the end of the week we're going to have moved every single ornament to the top foot or so of the tree so that Annie can't bat it off to play with it!
I'm just hoping she doesn't try to jump on it from the top of her favorite shelf!!  Mister super laid back Marcel of course has no interest.  Thankfully!!

I have an early warning system on my tree....the bottom of the tree is lined with bell ornaments so the minute someone goes for the tree, I hear them and can come running. Lol

Hehe....I need to get some bigger bells for my tree.  Mooch and Noodles chew the branches some; but I will squirt some compressed air into the tree and that scares them right off.  I need the bells for DD; who will probably have a blast ringing them.  It's funny sometimes how the same things that work for our cats work on our kids too.

I put my tree up without ornaments the day before Thanksgiving. Kairi watched, disinterested, and only went to check out the branches underneath, then left it alone. I put the ornaments on on Saturday, and as of today he has only batted one, so I think we're doing well. He is much more interested in the Stockings on the fireplace (he scales the brick wall...) and his own stocking which already has some toys in it, which I think we have to take down and put away until Christmas morning.

He did assist me in putting up the pine garland and lights on the stair rail, and I'm sure he will assist my husband when he puts the giant wreath up in the center hall. He's a helper kitty-puts a paw on your hand as you're working.

Ah yes, cats and Christmas trees... We're going to put ours up on Sunday, and I have a feeling it's going to have to be a naked tree. Genever, who is a really good girl and doesn't get into things like normal cats, enjoyed the ornaments last year so that I moved them and the lights up and the bottom 1/3 of the tree was bare.

Now we have Dorothy. And she, though they say she's going on 10 years old, is soooo kittenish! She gets into everything. Plays like a maniac. So I have a feeling our tree won't last long... but we'll try it and see what happens. No glass ornaments. I

ll take pics if necessary. ;)
