Can certain treats cause vomiting? What else could it be?

Hi all. I adopted a 5-yr old female long-hair tortoiseshell from the MSPCA in Boston about 1 month ago. She is wonderful! She is so much happier in a house with just her, as opposed to her "colony room" at the shelter. She has settled in really nicely here, but there are a few things I need to ask...

She vomits from time to time, and usually its when I am not home, but sometimes I am around (like this morning). I brought her into the vet (and she had a vet appointment at the MSPCA before she left), and both gave her a clean bill of health. Getting sick happened pretty quickly after eating. A friend commented that she just had one of the treats I give her (Purina Whisker Lickin's Tender Moments), and it had never occurred to me that some types of treats can make cats sick?

They are very soft treats, easy to stuff a pill inside if you need ti give medication, or if your cat has a tough time chewing. Has anyone heard of cats getting sick after eating these treats ? Or any others?

Also, the vets have given the advice that she could get sick from hairballs, but I am very careful about grooming her, and have seen no hairballs in her vomit.

Your suggestions and help are VERY appreciated!

Yes, she could be allergic to something in the treats and in her food.  You could try eliminating them and see what happens and if she improves.

Interesting! I will look at the ingredients! Its too bad, because she loves the treats, but since taking them away she has been totally fine! Also has developed a better appetite.

Thanks again, big help.

Each cat is different.  It may even be the preparation method that doesn't agree with her system.  Glad she's doing better.

I use pieces of my cats' dry food as treats.  They don't know the difference!
