I have 6 cats and I'm thinking about switching them to scheduled feeding  Morning feeding would'nt be a problem, but some days I work til 9 p.m. so I'm not sure how to make that work. They would be fed about 6 a.m. then have to wailt til 9 to eat again, but this wouldn't be everyday.

Any suggestions?

I don't have any experience with automated feeders, but many on the forum do and swear by them.  You could invest in 2 timed auto-feeders to dispense your chosen amount at, let's say - 2pm?  Even if it's a small snack just to tide them over until you get home, it can help you manage their feeding schedule so they are not ravenous when you get home - especially since I'm assuming they are currently free-fed.

You could also try a wet meal in the morning which will keep them fuller for longer if you don't want to buy the timed feeders.  Others with more experience will chime in soon, I'm sure.  Good luck!!!

They are measured free fed. 3 cups once a day for the 6 cats. Usually theres food left in the morning when

I refill the bowls. They get a small amount of canned in the morning. one 5.5 ounce can devided among the 6.

You would have to buy those automatic feeder's for each cat. BUT..... that doesn't mean each cat will come rushing to eat when "their" feeder is feeding. I have three very piggish kitties (I also have six) and know that those three would eat the other three's meals too :nothappy: Not sure how to advise you on this. I guess you would have to feed at 6 a.m. and not again till 9 p.m. That just seems too long for them to go without food. I feed four small wet meals a day - with dry food as a treat only. I am lucky that I am home at the moment and able to do this. Other than hiring a pet sitter to come in and feed your cat's in the middle of the day on the day's you work, I am not sure what to suggest other than what you are already doing :wavey:

On the days I work til 9 I go in at noon, so maybe I could give them a snack and leave a little dry food to  tide them over til I get home

Maybe you could get some food balls that they can play with during the day to hold them over? The PetSafe Slimcat balls are great and cheap. :)
