Omega Paw Self-Cleaning Litter Box

Does anyone have the Omega Paw "roll"-style litter box?  My friend just bought these and it looks awesome - and holding steady at 4 stars after 1900 reviews on Amazon I'm thinking it's a pretty good bet.  Link to Amazon & reviews: here.

I have gotten used to my almost completely track-free system of "hole-in-the-lid Sterilite tub," so I'm still mulling it over as I'd have to come up with a solution for tracking, but if it means less contact with dirty litter (no scooping, can you imagine!) I think it'd be worth it.  It seems great with a flushable litter (we use Swheat Scoop now) since you can just carry the canister to the bathroom and dump it into the john.

Anyone use it?  Is it as awesome as it seems?  Do you run into problems with the litter sticking to the bottom of the pan?  What are your solutions for tracking?

It's awesome!!
I do have a problem with stuff stuck to the bottom...

I hit the bottom when I roll it over, but I still have that problem.

I love it besides that!! It's so nice, not having to touch things.

Yup, I have four, and no broken tabs yet (the main complaint on Amazon, but I think that comes from dragging the box on the carpet when its on its edge).  Works well with Swheat Scoop Multicat (green bags).

Its in a closet with a cat door in the door, motion sensor lights to light up when they enter, and an oversized ribbed mat from Home Depot to catch the litter stuck to their paws.      I recently added HEPA air purifiers in the closets with carbon filters, and just have them run on low.

I keep the litter scoop in case anything sticks to the bottom.   When replacing litter with fresh, I spray the inside of the box with PAM cooking antistick spray which works well and is recommended by the manufacturer.    Best thing you can do to avoid sticking clumps is to make sure litter is filled up to its maximum level though, which I have marked with a permanent marker so I can tell how low it is.   smile.gif

I recently found a competing similar product that looks promising too, but twice as expensive and can't really find reviews yet:

Even more pricey, but also well reviews on Amazon is the Litter Robot LR2, but that's just a bit rich for my blood as I would want two and that's $700 right there, and more if something breaks and needs servicing.

One thing is for sure though, I will NEVER EVER use a regular scooping box again.   laughing02.gif

Thanks for the feedback, misssara!  I'm glad you like the box.  The litter clumps have been a problem with us too, hmm.

Ducman, that is an awesome cat bathroom haha.  I'm jealous.  Where is your mark for the litter level?  I noticed that complaint (not knowing how much litter to use) in the reviews.  Have you noticed any litter "leaking" out of the sides when you roll the box?  I saw that complaint a lot but wondered if it was user error, as a lot of the complaints seem to be.  One reviewer said he scooped his old boxes once a week for three cats... doh3.gif

Next time you clean the box and put in fresh litter, purposefully overfill the box, then roll it, and whatever doesn't fit will spill over the top into the catch can.    Put a couple dots with a magic marker.   Put the excess litter into another litterbox or back in the bag, then take the top off, roll the litter out of the way and then with a straight edge just mark a line connecting the dots.  smile.gif

Voila, you have the maximum overfill line.
