I took in a stray about 2 weeks ago. His name is Socks. I took him in last Monday to get neutered and he was tested positive for Feline Leukemia. He has had diarrhea ever since I brought him in. I put him on Purina One Sensitive Systems hoping it would firm up his poop, but it hasn't. I tried mixing in canned pumpkin with his food, but he doesnt like the pumpkin.

Any help? Is this something that wont go away?

Hi & Welcome to TCS! :wavey:

Forgive a silly question, but it will help us help you (and your kitty). Did your vet test a fecal sample? Or de-worm him at all?

He didn't test a fecal sample but prior to his surgery he gave me some deworming medication that I put on socks back.

I'd definitely get a stool sample tested. Worms are common, and de-wormers can cause loose stools. But it's also possible he could have an intestinal parasite like coccidia/giardia that requires treatment. Both coccidia & giardia are very common in cats who have been outdoors.

Coccidia and giardia, as pointed out, are not uncommon in outdoor cats. They would require a different treatment than what the vet already gave you. I'm glad you're taking a stool sample in, it's best to eliminate these as a source of the problem.

My girl Princess had Leukemia and she had diarrhea a lot, the vet prescribed antibiotics and she got better for a while, but she kept getting diarrhea, I hope your kitty gets well soon.
