Did anyone see the early show today?

They had a person on there talking about declawing.

She recommended water pistol and shake can to deterr cats from scratching.


She didn't recomment declawing tho.

I saw the show this morning.

Actually I will give the vet credit. For the *very* short time that she was on TV, she presented the topic quite well. She said that declawing is actually amputation and showed pictures and mentioning it is painful. She then went on to suggest alternatives such as scratching posts, and toys. She also gave suggestions for saving your furniture and drapes by using double sided tape, soft claws etc.

I didn't agree with the water pistol, but I see no problem in suggesting shaking a pop can with coins in it as a noise deterrent.

Overall, she presented the topic way better than the majority of vets would. I believe she left the audience with a more 'anti' than 'pro' view on the topic of declawing.

She also mentioned that West Hollywood's bid to implement a declawing ban was rejected a few days ago.

I agree, I just wondered what others thought.
