For years, I have worn Nike running shoes for walking, shopping, every day type things...no running.laughing02.gif
I want to try a different brand but so far I haven't been able to find a pair that does not cost a fortune and is comfortable. dontknow.gif

Check out the poll. Is you favorite sneaker brand there?
If not, what do you wear?
Thanks walksmil.gif

I didn't vote - my favorite tennis shoes are New Balance, and otherwise I own tons of pair of Skechers. I have wide feet, and those two brands are ones I can easily find in wide widths, or that run a bit wider.

I have 5 pairs of work shoes that are Skechers, and my two tennis shoes are NB.

I used to be a Nike girl.  Then I got a pair of New Balance running shoes when I was working for a doctor.  They were amazing!  I've never looked back!

My Aunt has been a nurse for over 30 years and they are her preferred brand too.  She did say that it took getting used to when she got walking shoes instead of running ones once.  I prefer the running shoes.

DH also wears nothing but New Balance shoes for work.  He is on his feet all day basically.

Used to be Nike...Till I got my first pair of DCs. They are skater shoes, but they are great quality and are sooooo comfortable.

I have to be very careful with the type of workout shoes I buy. I have foot tendon problems. I prefer New Balance as they sell the flat insoles and I can easily put my arch lifts inside comfortably. biggrin.gif

I wear Pumas and Champion (from Payless, lol). Almost all of the spots stores here have a buy one get one 50% off sale when I'm looking for shoes - if one doesn't have it, another one will (all in the same mall). I get either two pairs of shoes for myself, or a pair for me and a pair for Mike for under $125. The Champion ones I get are the toning ones - the ones with little air pockets in the sole, not the rocking kind. Both are the only kinds of shoes that properly fit my feet.

I like DCs for everyday casual use, and Asics for running. I've tried a lot of different shoes over the years for running, and think Asics are the best for me

I don't have a favorite brand.  I just try them on at the store and if they fit and feel good, I get themlaughing02.gif

I wear either New Balance or Asics. Right now my favorite pair is the Asics Gel-Frantic 6 running shoe

I prefer Nikes, they feel good and last and last. That being said...I may have to try some New Balance after reading the posts here. It might be tough though, I do love my Nikes.

I'm big on New Balance sneakers. They are super comfortable and seem to hold up well to wear and tear. I use them for walking, running, exercising (in general), and for everyday shopping, errand-running, and the like. They have a number of different styles, are affordable, and, most importantly, fit well and are comfortable.

That being said, I have to wear sneakers to work. And, for work, I do not wear my New Balance sneakers. While I love them, I am VERY hard on shoes at work. And, since I work in a veterinary office, I am always having to wash my sneakers. In short, they get ruined easily. It's not uncommon for me to need a new pair of shoes for work every other month. And, since I can be kind of OCD about things, I will sometimes trash a pair of shoes if I come into contact with parvo or panleuk. It's not worth it for me to potentially spread illness over a pair of shoes. So, I get my work sneakers from places like Payless. Champion has decent shoes that are comfortable and last for as long as I need them to. And, you'd be surprised by how many compliments I get on my sneakers while at work. The price is right, they fit well enough, and hold up to very heavy use. They're not my New Balance sneakers, but they work all the same (for work).

Speaking of sneakers, I need to get a new pair this weekend after I get paid. My work shoes are torn up -- 2-3 months of 12+ hour days on your feet will do that. Hopefully, I can snag a deal on them. But, no, getting a good deal is not worth dealing with Black Friday shoppers. My feet can wait another week or so -- he he!

I run every day, and used to love Ryka's, and before that I always wore Nikes. I just got a pair of Brooks, and I have to say they are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. They cost the same as a good pair of Nikes or any of the other popular brands, but are made in different styles for different uses and different feet. Mine are the Ravenna style. I love them. They're not all that flashy, but I needed function, not form.

In my experience, most Nikes these days are made to look good, maybe work well, but not for that long. I needed shoes that will last 300 miles or more, and I think I have found them.

I am very very very weird about shoes. If they make my feet look big I wont wear them I only wear a size 7 and the shoes have to go with the pants and fit together just perfectly or I will never wear the shoes. I have a pair of Nikes and I really like them they are comfy. But my favorite pair ever..I got a pair of Polo sneakers in the little boys section that remind me of cheerleading sneakers so I had to have them and I love them...I tried to get df to get me cheerleading shoes but when he saw the price he said no even though I only get new sneakers about once ever 3 or 4 yrs..if that. My adidas sandles lasted 7 till he forced me to throw them away.

I really like New Balance, but Nikes have been fitting my odd feet better lately.

I like Nike. You know, I have a pair of New Balance walking shoes and I can't wear them. Every time I've worn those things, I've fallen down. It's almost like the toes of the shoes are dropping and the toe drops on the pavement....down I go. I've worn them four times now and I've fallen each and every time. They were fitted for me, too, but I'm wondering if that's not part of the problem. I went to regular shoe store for them and the guy who owns the store fitted me for them. He said I should get a size 10.....I told him I've never worn a size 10 in my life! But that's what he said. And they did feel comfortable, so I took him at his word. My Nikes? Size 8. Go figure.

If anybody wants a size 10 pair of NB walking shoes (I think WIDE), PM me and I'll take a picture of them for you. If you're interested, you can have them. No charge....unless you want to help pay for the shipping. They cost me over $100 and I simply cannot wear them. They're white.

Whatever fits my feet. I cannot wear name brand sneekers since they are too tight. I have never found a pair wide enough, or if I do, they are too expensive. I buy mine at K-mart or Payless.

I don't wear sneakers much but when I do, I'm a Converse fan, but I'm not a runner it's just for looks. I love the X-Hi tops because they look like boots.

I live in Nikes, but it's really hard to find sneakers that feel comfortable.  Thanks to several broken bones and plantar fasciitis in the past, it's super tough for me to buy shoes.  For some reason, NB just don't feel "right"; then again, I can try one 15 pairs of Nikes and not find any that feel right.

I love New Balance.    Did any of you ever try Sketchers?  I tried a pair on once just out of curiosity (they kind that are supposed to be good for balance, etc.) and I felt like I was wobbling and ready to fall down.  I think I'd break my neck if I ever wore those for any length of time.

Easy Spirit wins hands down with me. They have wide sizes as well as a lot of styles that have thin soles and are dressy enough to wear to work. I hit their outlet when I'm in the U.S. and pick up three or four pairs at a time.

For me, it's Adidas which wasn't included so I just voted for 'Other'. I jog or run everywhere I go, so I need good running shoes, I've used Adidas shoes for years, they never fail me. For casual shoes, I also use Adidas, they really are a great brand and the shoes look quite good as well.

I used to wear Nike's a lot, but now I have a pair of Sauconys. It really depends on the shoe for me, no particular brand!

I have bought some Thom McAn sneakers for years.  Only available at K-Mart, of which there are none in this area.  I like them because they are fabric and leather (not vinyl) and they have velcro closures.

In recent years, they have changed the design and they are no longer wearing as long as they used to.  Guess it's time to find a new brand.

It sounds as if a lot of you wear running shoes, so I'm going to expand on this question a bit, if I may.

What will give me the best/most cushion---running or walking shoes?  As I said, I've had broken bones i both feet and it's hard to find a comfortable pair of sneakers, but sneakers are just about all I wear.  Any thoughts?

Usually I go for cheap no name brand ones. I went to a podiatrist some years back and she told me that the high end sneakers really don't hold the foot as secure as it should be. The problem is the soft leather and how it stretches.  Cheaper sneakers tend to be made out of stiffer material and it holds the foot more aligned.

So ever since then I go for the cheaper ones because they last me as long as the expensive ones. Besides you're supposed to get new sneakers every 6 months or more, so if I can spend $50 vs $100, I'm all for that :)

Which cheap sneakers do you find that cost $50? I won't pay more than that for any sneaker, but I always buy when they're having a buy one get one sale so the price evens out. All the cheaper sneakers I know of are the kinds they sell at Wal-Mart that fall apart the first time I wear them.

For sneakers I like New Balance or Asics. For non-sneakers, I like Born and Keen. I <3 my Born sandals!

Last ones I bought were Gola ones which are fab walking in the snow in the winter

Maybe Brooks?

I like Adidas for walking. Converse to just wear around.
