And we've been painting our house.
Not strolling on the beach or eating dinner out together.  Painting.

My Mom and Step-Dad don't like doing projects like this.  They tend to argue.  But I can't remember enjoying a day with him this much in quite a while.  Even on our vacation a few weeks ago!

It probably helps that we are kid free.  Or have been since about 12:30 when my Mom picked our DD up.  It's deffinitely easier to paint without a toddler underfoot.  Although one cat has knocked this table my Grandpa made over trying to leap off it.  The cats have even enjoyed the quiet today I think.  The cat tree is close enough to the ceiling fan that Mooch keeps batting at the pull chains for the light and fan.  (Fan is not on!)

We are almost done with the first color now.  Still have to do the below where the chair rail will go.  But we are doing different colors there.  Next weekend DH gets to start installing a chair rail around both rooms.  Once things are cleaned up I'll be taking pics!

I'm taking a break while we wait on our pizza to be delivered.  Pepperoni, diced tomatoes and banana peppers! YUM!

I'm glad you and DH had a good day together. I'm a firm believer in parents having "quality" time with each other, but I know it's not always possible. Sometimes doing the most simple things are the most fun, especially if you are accomplishing something together.

Very cool!

I like to paint and usually do it by myself. On those rare occasions when he helps out, it's because we are doing half the house at once. We crank up the stereo and dance around with our brushes.

I actually love the time Larry and I spend together working on a project around the house. It is fun and makes the work, seem less like work, and there is nothing like a good pizza shared by two after such a hard's day work :D :heart3: Glad you had such a wonderful day :clap::clap:

Thanks guys!  We got one coat of each color up today.  I need to run to Lowes tomorrow for another gallon of one and we need to do a second coat of each.  My poor DD looked confused when she came home tonight!  All the furniture is in the middle of the room still.  I'm sure the house smells funny too!  But we did get a no-voc paint (which is why I helped DH).  I'll try to get pics once I get things straightened up and the pictures re-hung.  I'm pleased so far!  Can't wait to see how the chair rail adds to it!

Yes me too!  I know some people who put themselves on TERRIBLE guilt trips for leaving thier little ones with a sitter or even family.  It's good for a marriage!  I love my daughter to pieces!  But DH and I need to be together when we are not being mommy and daddy!  We had a horrible time getting some down time this summer.  It was one thing after another.  We still haven't done the overnight we planned in the beginning of June!  But we've gotten some other time alone so that helps.  Makes such a difference in both our stress levels!  I thank the Lord my Mom and Step-dad like to take my DD so much!

Glad to hear you had nice day with hubby. Sometimes it just nice to do simple thongs together
DH would say he agrees; so long as the thongs stay in the singular fashion and not the plural.
     I love auto-correct!!

My house is semi-open concept.  The kitchen, dining and breakfast area are one and has 2 entrances to the living room.  So throughout them both we did a color called Stonington on top.  I'd describe it as a french gray.  In the living room the bottom is a green color and in the kitchen areas it's a dark purple, called coneflower.  The green looks great; the purple is very different!  But so far I like it!  Hopefully today DH can install a few pieces of the chair rail (which will be white) so we he and our neighbor can move my china cabinet back into place.

DH is doing a second coat of the purple now.  I'm so sore I'm just trying to eat some breakfast.

That sounds great! I bet the purple will take a while to get used to. We painted one of our bathrooms a darker purple and for a while every time I walked into it it was "Whoa, purple!" :lol3:

Hehe...I'm used to it!  I took a few pics so far; but DH is hoping to work on installing the chair rail this weekend.  At least enough of it that I can decorate for Christmas.

Some of the nicest times that Rick and I have spent together is when we're doing something together. We like to work in the gardens together, weeding and transplanting stuff. We talk about different things and just being together makes it so much nicer. Not so much with house tasks, though, as we tend to argue too much....I don't paint to suit him and it's better for him to do it by himself.

Would love to see pictures, too, please. It sounds beautiful.
