We currently have 3 rescue cats who all are fed dry  Blue Buffalo.  So now we acquire Dolly, another barn rescure as a kitten.  We start her off on dry Blue Buffalo Kitten and she gets loose stool and gas.  She went to the vet twice for a stool  check and all negative.  We wormed her anyway and started her on a quiet diet of boiled chicken, rice and pumpkin.  The stool firms up.  If we try to slowly reintroduce the Blue Kitten she gets a loose stool.

This is a real feeding problem as we wished to have her on Blue cat food like the other 3 cats eventually for the convenience.

So, for the question(s):

Should we try to another slowly introducedanther brand of dry food?

Any ideas what could be wrong? i.e. allergy to component of Blue kitten

What is the long term effect of keeping her on the chicken mixture until she gets some growth?  Should we had something else for completeness?

She is active, plays well and shows no discomfort.

Thanks in advance

I wonder if maybe she has some kind of food allergy causing this? I would try different foods, maybe one specifically for types of allergies. As for the Blue Kitten though, maybe her little body just needs time to get used to it. I'm sure someone will be along shortly with more suggestions though. Good luck to your baby!

f we try to slowly reintroduce the Blue Kitten she gets a loose stool.
If you search back on the forums, we had the same issue w/ Buttercup.   Fine on Purina One (what she was eating), then loose stool on Blue Kitten Chicken even though Wesley her sibling was fine, then fine on Wellness, then loose stool trying not to waste the rest of the bag of Blue Kitten, then fine on Blue Wilderness Duck.

Apparently all it takes is not to tolerate one ingredient, and they can get loose stools.

This is assuming though that the transition to the new food was done over a week (first 25% then 50% then 75% to full), otherwise really quick transitions can temporarily cause issues.
