When will she have kittens?!

Hey y'all! My name is Kaity, and my 'Queen' is most definitely pregnant. I don't know conception date, all I know is that it was before Oct. 1, 2011 because that's when my boyfriend broke his leg and we stayed at his parents with Gypsy, our queen, in the garage. We've been meaning to get her spayed because she just wandered into our yard starving with 3 kittens in the middle of August and the kittens went off to new homes and decided to keep her, but we've been having EXTREMELY bad luck lately haha. I've dealt with many cat, dog, horse, cow, llama, sheep, goat births and I'm very knowledgable about labor and all of that and what to do if anything goes wrong. Anyhow! So all I know is before Oct 1st.. It's Nov 18th today, So I'm guessing she's between 7-8 weeks, maybe close to 9, no idea.. But after we came back home a couple weeks ago, we noticed it about a week or so ago, and have been feeling the kittens rumbling around in there. So she HAS had another litter, we aged her at about a year old, I'm thinking she's close, showing all signs except no milk production, nipples are pink and larger, VERY loving, and she's been eating and drinking A LOT more haha. And she has these weird things that look kind of like muscle spasms but in her belly and she kind of squeeks haha. And she still has a bit of hair around her nipples. I also DEFINITELY know where she's having her kitten, she has ALWAYS loved that spot, but has loved it MUCH more than usual, a drawer out of our desk is missing and the drawer below that space is a nice deep dark drawer, and that's her 'spot'. Looks like she won't be having many. I attached some pictures of her. Thanks!!

Oh, poor baby, so young and already having her second litter! She looks about ready to pop, but you never know... Those nipples don't look quite like a full-term mom's, but other than that, yeah, she's pretty big. Either she's having a big litter or she's going to give birth pretty soon.

She'll need plenty of nutrition, now and when she's nursing. I assume you've already got her on a high-quality kitten food, right? Considering she's so young, you'll need to be especially sure that she's got all the food she needs. There is one benefit to it being her second litter, though; she's had experience with kitten-raising at least once, so she's less likely than most young cats to not know what to do with the kittens. Sometimes they don't know, and you have to help them clean up the kittens and get them started nursing...

I'm just glad you got her inside before she had those kittens. She can be spayed once she's had the litter and weaned them... your vet can tell you exactly when is best.

Oh, BTW, if you have this situation again, you should totally call up your humane society and ask them for a cat trap. That way you can get the cat in and spayed when you first see it, instead of not being able to get your hands on the cat 'til she's pregnant.

Also, we demand kitten pics once they are born. Just sayin'. :D

Are they going to be barn cats when they're grown, or will you try to find them indoor homes?

My cats have always had kittens around 63 days, but they can come anytime between 60-68 days I believe. She looks like the is going to explode! I would say probably another week or so before she has them. You will really be able to tell when its time. All of my cats except for 1 had their litters at night. The other one had them early in the morning. Since you have had experience with other animals, that will help! Usually cats don't need help unless it is a 1st time mom or has large kittens or is too weak, mine have not ever needed help and delivered all kittens successfully.

Your cat looks like she is going to have 4 or 5 little munchkins. You can probably feel them and see the kittens against her sides when she is less than a week away from birthing. I try to count how many she is going to have, but there is always one or 2 that are in the middle, where you can't feel them.

Good luck! Kittens are so adorable, but destructive! Make sure they have plenty of places to play, hide and scratch, and teach them at a young age not to scratch certain things. :)

Yes I've rescued cats/kittens and get all of them spayed/neutered when they're all ready, and get their shots, etc. She had her kittens! I posted a new thread of her and her babies so you can look at em!!

Also, please get Gypsy in for her spay AFTER she is done weaning the babies - about two month's time.... Just try to have a plan and work with the vet to help you with this. There are many low-cost spay neuter clinics. OH Here is another link for that laughing02.gif
