Oh Ginger, poor peaches!!!!!! I'm so glad you found her. God how awful! I'm also glad she's OK. Gosh - my heart is thumping for the poor thing. I agree - the sweetie deserves a home.

thanks Laurie, i hope i can find her a good home too

I called the no-kill cat adoption shelter (Cats Exclusive) and they are full but she seemed very nice and said to call her back next Wednesday to see if there is a spot for Peaches.
She mentioned that Peaches may be a good candidate for thier Pet Supermarket pet adoption program here in town.
I wonder if anyone is familiar with how the Pet Supermarket adoptions work, do they screen the applicants well enough? I wonder if they will let me go with Peaches to the adoption store and help with the adoption?

This is aweful. Peaches is not on my doorstep this morning AGAIN~!!!
Ugh, Now where is she??? If I find her again, I might try to keep her in the spare bedroom until I find her a perminant home. I really hope she is not lost again.

Hopefully she's still around and just exploring or hiding.

You may want to put food & water in the garage just in case.

Peaches, come out, come out wherever you are! You're making mom nervous! Please come back & settle down on the porch again.

From the How to tell if cat is outdoor or stray thread. . .

Cocoa Maui

From reading your posts it's clear that you are very bonded to her. . .she is just adorable!

Laurie (LDG) and Princess Purr and others have suggested at various times to put a collar on her with "Please call if this cat belongs to you"; post flyers, ad in newspaper; and scan microchip to see if Peaches might be a lost kitty or someone's pet that wanders. Those are all fabulous ideas. I especially like the collar idea because it's quick and cheap.

Please please please don't rehome her before trying to find out if she is someone's pet! You asked in the quote above that you wish you knew how she ended up a stray on your doorstep. If you read the link below, you will see success stories of families that were reunited with their lost pet. You can also read the MULTITUDE of circumstances that a cat becomes lost and missing (indoor-only cat accidentally slips out front door; outdoor-access cat is chased from yard by dog; cat is freaked out from having to go to vet and jumps the carrier; movers freak out the cat and cat runs off in fear, etc). These are all accidents. These are cats whose families loved and adored them but unfortunate circumstances separated the cat from the home, the cat becomes either too fearful to return or becomes disoriented. Once a cat is off familiar territory it often simply stays put in the new territory.

For every success story, there are multitudes of families who have not been so lucky, either from not knowing proper search techniques or from simply giving up too soon.

If Peaches is indeed a lost pet, that family would be ever soooo grateful for your efforts to find her home. You would be Peaches guardian angel indeed!

:kitty5:

Wishing all the best for everyone involved. . .

Thanks Maui for caring about Peaches. I look in the paper all the time to see if there are any lost pet ads. I called one yesterday but it turned out to be a false alarm. Before she got lost these past few days, she was so happy and content on my doorstep, I kinda slacked off on the search effort. I hope she comes back again do I can do a better job of helping her this time.
This is my first ferral (actually stray) cat rescue attempt so I am learning as I go along.

She's back again! Ugh, this is getting tiring, worrying about her so much. I am going to petsmart now to get her a collar.

I just got back from Pet Smart with her new collar. It reads:

MY OWNER CALL
954-857-6948
THANKS

Hopefully if she has a home that she goes to they will call me.

I will take pics of her new collar on her in a little while.
