I just found Peaches in my garage!!! She has been there since last thursday! Almost a week! Poor cat!
What a terrible thing to happen. I even looked in there 3 times over the last few days to make sure she didnt get in there last thursday, the last time I opened the garage.
I feel sooo bad for her.
I gave her water and food immediatly. She ate. Now what should I do? I don't want to let her out of the garage because I am afraid she will run away. I don't want to leave her in the garage because she is scared.
Please help, any advice?

Here is the link about her http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/sho...threadid=23633

Thank god you found her! I would call the vet and get his advice. Does she seem dehydrated? If so, IV fluids would help.

Hopefully she found bugs and stuff in there to eat. I would make sure she doesn't bolt her food and then barf it right back up...

Right here! :)
OOhhh, the poor thing. It is so good you have found her, but she must be so hungry and confused! At least she is not lost and hurt. I would give her all the water she can drink, and be careful she doesn´t eat to much at the time, better smaller amounts and often. I bet she was also glad to see you!
Again...I am sooo glad you found her! I am sure she will be OK!

I forgot about dehydration. I would take her to a vet right away and have her checked. An IV is probably needed. Sue gave ya good advice above. I will say a prayer for her.

Pull the skin at the nape of the neck and if it stays standing after you let go she is dehydrated. If it falls back into place right away she isn't. Best of luck with her and we will keep her in our prayers.

Oh no! Poor Peaches! I'm so glad you found her! I hope everything works out OK! Can you bring her in your house? Or is she outdoor-only?

Ginger, check her gums and see if they are pale or streaked white, is her tongue coated? Scruff her neck and see if the scruff stays up more than a few seconds. If it does, then get to the store and get a bottle of pedialyte and see if she will drink it, pour it in your hand if you have to, or mix it with her wet food. Give her small amounts only, you don't want to over feed her or she will vomit. Put her somewhere that you can watch her also watch the litterbox action. If she seems really dehydrated, lethargic or wobbly get her to the ER vet clinic immediately. How hot was it for her in the garage? Take that into account, also check the pads of her feet and see if they are cracked or bloody or if her claws are cracked or split.

omg! Poor peaches!! I would take the advice of the others and make sure she has plenty of water and feed her small amounts of food. Also check her neck like Dragon Lady suggested.

How is she acting??

i gave her some can food and she ate it up ok. I gave her a whole can before i read the post about not feeding her right away. She is sooo happy, giving me head butts and purring and going back and forth to the food bowl!!! I am soooo glad she is ok (well almost ok). Its been in the 90's here, but rainy so i think that the heat factor was kept down a little by all the rain. Hopefully some of the rain washed into the garage door where she could get to it.
She is staying in the garage tonight since it is so late. Idon't want to let her back outside until tomorrow morning when i can watch her and make sure she doesn't run away. I am going to have to see about getting her adopted, she is too sweet of a cat to be living on my doorstep and I already have 4 cats indoors.
Maybe I will leave her in the garage in the morning and call the local cat adoption center to see what they suggest and to see if they will help with the adoption.
Thanks for everyone's advice. I will see what I can find out about her condition now.
YAY! PEACHES IS HOME!!!

Oh she is so cute!!!!!!!!!! She looks great too. I'm so glad she's ok. Do you really have to adopt her out
Maybe you can foster, so that you can be sure she will go to a home and not be euthanized

I'm glad she seems OK. I know she is more attached to you than ever! It's so sad she has to live somewhere else. Maybe you ca build an enclosure in your yard where you can spend time with her and keep her safe.

I'm very happy that you found Peaches

I hope you find a nice home for her. She deserves it.

(So you don't want 5 cats? ;-)

Did you place a lost and found ad in your local paper in case she belongs to someone?

I'm so happy you found Peaches & she's OK! Whew! I was so sad when you wrote she was missing...

If you can't keep her and can't find her owner (were you ever able to get her scanned to see if she has a microchip?), you might try putting up notices at vets in your area. If you can keep her until you can find her a home it would be better than putting her in a shelter. (If she must go to a shelter, make sure it's a no-kill one.) Check with your local shelter & rescue groups for questions to ask potential adopters. Most rescue groups can give you a great list of questions to screen out the wrong kind of people. Find out if they've owned cats before & what happened to them, how long they lived, if they have a regular vet, how they would deal with any behavior problems such as urinating out of the box, etc. Visit the home she would be going to. Always charge an adoption fee.

You want to be sure they'll take good care of beautiful Peaches!

Peaches definatly lost some weight being in the garage for so long. She spent the night in the garage again last night with plenty of food and water and a litter box and a comfy place to sleep.
This morning I opened the garage to see if she would come out. It took about an hour for her to venture out, and now she is back to her usual place on my doorstep and in the bushes.
She seems to be doing ok. She actually used to litter box several times last night! Now I know she is litter trained

I am going to call CatsExclusive.org now to see if they will help me find her a good home. I would gladly bring her inside but Steven insists that we already have too many cats.
