It always amazes me when people try to tell you should get rid of cats if you're going to have a child. DD absolutely adores Smudge, and Smudge is very good to her, and has never shown the slightest bit of aggression (although we still keep a close eye on them). I was so excited to capture this moment :heart3:

I heard the reason some people think that is a crazy old wives' tale that a cat (especially a black cat, of course ) will crawl into your child's crib with them and "steal their breath"/try to smother them while they are sleeping.

I mean, really! How utterly ridiculous!

But!!! That picture is ADORABLE.

IMHO, towheaded babies are the cutest of all babies (disclaimer: I have never been blonde :lol3:), and your DD fits the bill

And Smudge looks as happy as a cat can be around a toddler. :lol3:

I should add that Smudge is kneading the couch, and her tail is fluffed up because that's what she does when she's happy :)

That is such an adorable picture!
Usually, cats don't let children get that close to them, but that kitty looks like he loves that little girl.

I have plenty of friends with cats and kids who have pretty good relationships. A lot depends on the cat's personality I think. What's interesting is that Smudge doesn't like other little kids. If other little kids try to get too close, or run up to her yelling, Smudge hisses at them. She knows and loves her little human though :)
