I took my 1 year old Ragdoll (Lita) to the vet yesterday to get a bath, nail trim, and butt shaving. I take her there about every 6 weeks over the last 6 months. The strange thing is the last 3 times that I brought her home after...she walks around the house meowing for 4 or 5 hours about every 1/2 hour. Lita knows where she is because I may have just got done petting her, or she may have just finished eating and she will start. It only last for maybe 30 seconds each time then she stops. Lita was spayed at 6 months of age. The only thing that I can figure is she has a really likes the young girl that always washes her everytime and adores her, or she misses being at the vet.
She never does it otherwise except after a vet visit. Anyone else have any ideas?

She sounds stressed to me, I would put her in a dark room, with food water and a litterbox and a few toys and just let her decompress.

Lita does not appear to be stressed
I will play fetch with her a couple of times (she loves this game) with me over this same 5-6 hour period. If she was stressed.....I don't think that she would want to play her favorite game with her daddy.
But then she will go do her light meowing thing after. I am still wondering why she does this?
I appeciate your opinions

I wish we could read their minds! Life with pets would be so much easier if they could tell us where it hurts and why.

If this is new behavior for her as you indicate she is trying to tell you something since this is intermittent meowing. 4-5 hours of light meowing is your cat trying to tell you something. So like a jigsaw puzzle you try and put it together. Could it be the shampoo they use bothers her? Is she just glad to be home and saying hello? if that were the case it wouldn't be the intermittent meowing for 4-5 hours- she would be meowing a lot in the first hour and then settle down. Maybe she made a feline friend there and misses the cat? Does the vet have clinic cats that walk around and visit like my vet does? If she is eating and drinking and playing and using the litterbox without accident then she isn't sick. You just have to try and figure it out. Plus what do you do with her when she starts the meowing? Do you fuss over her wondering what is wrong?

Thanks Hissy for the ideas. I thought about what everyone said above. Like I said...she is normal after the 4 or 5 hour period. I still am leaning toward Lita just may be missing the girl (Jill) that always washes her. Jill really likes her and she claims that she always purrs while Jill hand blow drys, and brushes her out. Lita is excellent at the vet and never seems to mind going once she is there. I live alone with my 3 furchildren. Lita may do the same behavior with the intermitten meowing after I leave for work. I have no way of knowing.
I guess that things like this are what make animals so interesting
