:) i have a cuboard/storage room that i have set up for my gypsie to have her babys in, its been set up for over a week n in it is her cat tree, food, a clean tray and her birthing box, she goes in there to eat n use her tree but will not even look at the box :( her usual sleeping place is ontop of my wardrobe but she hasnt been up there for 2 weeks (due to her size i fink she knows its not gna happen) but since abandoning the wardrobe shes taken to my daughters cot :( i have started putting the laundry basket in there in the day so she carnt get in but she will just sleep ontop of the basket iv got a funny feeling this is where shes gna choose to have her babys, how can i stop this n encorage the storage room without causing her problems? x

If that's where she has decided to nest that is where she is most likely going to have them. My rescue mamma who just had kittens spent all of her time in my bathtub, and when she had the kittens she had them in the bathtub, this was perfectly fine with me so I let her be there as much as possible. She had a box set up for her that she never once paid attention to, she just wanted the tub.The other cat I had that had kittens wanted to have them on the couch but I moved her to the nest box I had set up in the closet and she stayed there to have them. The only way you can guarantee that she has them in the room you have set up is to shut her in there, when the time comes she will choose somewhere in that room.

if i put a second box in the cot with my daugters blanket in would it be possible to just move that box wen her labor starts or will that cause problems? if she has them at night she will have to go elsewhere because shes not allowed in the room whilst my girls asleep and i close the door, im at home most days most of the time atm so i will b around when she starts having them?

thankyou for your help

My girls (I'm a registered breeder) are in one room with a choice of 3 appropriate boxes/beds, they naturally choose one when labour starts. I never leave my girls to go through delivery alone, not worth the risk. Kittens can get stuck and you need to count placentas, along with patting and supporting your girl through the birth.
