As most of you know, I'm in the "toy biz," sort of. OK, I drive trucks full of toys around, but that counts, right?
So, another thread asked, "What toy did you always want, but never got?"
I have another question, sort of related.
What was your all-time favorite toy?
For me, it was a marble maze.
It was wooden, and made by my sister's grandfather (her dad's dad). He was a great carpenter, and a Jewish refugee from Germany just before WWII.
The same year he gave me and my brother this marble game, he gave her a really nice, hand-made doll house (which I saw a number of you ladies mention in the other thread).
Now, this marble game doesn't sound all that exciting. It was about 3 feet long, with a zig-zag marble track making 4 runs between two uprights. You could let a single marble roll down it, or put together a long line of marbles, or whatever.
The only way it could have been improved would have been for it to have two side-by-side tracks, so we could have raced marbles! I played with it until I was out of high school; I lost track of it sometime after that, probably given away by my mother in one of the many moves she made.
How about you?
