Supernintendo!!!
My parents insisted I go out to play, and video games indoors was antisocial and lame. But they gave me an allowance that I converted into quarters to play street fighter and other supernintendo titles on the arcades instead heheh!

I wanted an EZ Bake oven as well. When I was 19, I bought one. Made a couple of things and realized I made better from scratch that I learned to bake in the real oven!!
I also wanted a Lite-Brite. Never did get one of those. Also, I remember being in about 7th grade and begging my mom for a Cabbage Patch Doll. Nope... not a chance.
Someone mentioned a Pooh Bear. My mom was a really good seamstress. She made me a Pooh Bear and a Paddington Bear. I still have both. Probably better made than the ones in the store! I think Pooh is still down at my parents house, but Paddington came with me after my last trip down there. Raincoat and hat and all!

Oh, dear. I've thought of something else. The toy I wanted most of all. The gift that in my eyes surpassed all others: a Play Doh Fuzzy Pumper Barber Shop.
My cousin Debbie had one.
You know, I'm sure there was something I wanted and never received, but I can't think of anything off the top of my head. However, I do remember myself and my siblings drooling over the Sears Wish Book every holiday season. Thanks for bringing back a warm childhood memory!
I just realised I am old - by the time Barbie came along, I was, at least in my mind, past the age of dolls.
I thought Cabbage Patch dolls were about the ugliest thing going, and the crowd to get them - EGADS!!! any adult without kids wouldn't go near any store that sold them. My one brush with this weird phenomenon was at a large mall in Calgary - wanted to go to Woolco for some reason and couldnt get in the door......line was way out into the mall.
So many toys listed that seem like they were heavily advertised yesterday........yep, getting old and STILL want a train set: nice steam locomotive, tender, mixed cars and a caboose................ *SIGH*
The gift I wanted as a kid and never got was a pair of plastic high heels. I don't know whether you had these in America, but they were popular as gifts for little girls in the fifties in England where I grew up. They were slip-on high heels and they had little sparkles in them I think. I thought they were the coolest thing, but never received them as a gift.
007 spy kit. My dad never liked the James Bond movies and he also said it was a boy's toy. Most of my friends were boys and they all had the kits. They shared some with me but it was frustrating.
