Just playing around and looking and the smileys and couldn't resist this one.

Now that was the last cruise tragedy so there's nothing more to be afraid of.

Anyone still want to join us?   The more the merrier!

Lana, remember several years ago when Rick and I went to South Carolina? On the way home from SC, we went on the ferry to Ocracoke Island? And I paced the boat, just waiting to see some semblance of land? The one we took was about a 40-minute ride, and, honestly, I swear that in another 10-15 minutes or so, I would have jumped ship, just to get off the thing. I kept pacing around, waiting and waiting. And finally, I saw some land.

Rick would dearly love to go on a cruise and I keep telling him that I will try it....as long as I don't have to fly to Florida. If he'll let me drive down, I'll try to cruise. But the whole idea just curdles my corpuscles.

Pam, don't confuse a ferry with a luxury cruise ship.   Just picture yourself in a five star hotel with all the luxurious surroundings.    The lounges and theatres are magnificent.    There's food all over the place.   Entertainment to match Las Vegas reviews.  Wonderful stores to shop in.   Lounges where you can sit, relax, sip a pina colada and listen to music.       I've been on small ferries, glass bottom boat tours and have gotten sick on the glass bottom boat.   The smell of the diesel fuel really made me ill.   But a cruise ship, especially the giant ones they have now, is completely different.

Wow  listen to me go on and on -- maybe I should get a job selling cruises?  (actually I thought about doing that at one time).

SOMEDAY!!!    Tell Rick that he'll really love it, especially if he likes pampering.   There's nothing that they don't do for you;    put the napkin on your lap at dinner, leave funny little towel design animals on your bed at night, candy on your pillow.

Ok - I'll shut up!  I'm sick of hearing myself.   But honestly, someday try it!

ENGLAND... LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY!
I've been on 3, my last one was in September around the Med.

I would strongly advise anyone to go on one,  because l remember being told after a cruise i'd never want another package holiday again, and l can understand why now.

If you want to see different countries in a 1-2 week holiday a cruise is the place to do it, and as it's been mentioned a cruise ship is totally different from a ferry.

It all comes down to people either loving or hating a cruise.    There doesn't seem to be much in-between.    A good friend of mine is dying to go on a cruise, but her husband is petrified about getting seasick.    He always teases us about how we love cruising.   Once, quite a few years ago, a ship got stuck out in the water somewhere (rare occasion), and Paul and I were watching the news about it, when suddenly the phone rang.   I knew even before answering it that it was my friend's husband saying "see  I told you so".   It's become big joke between us now.

All I can see is - try it - even just start with a short 3-day cruise to see how you like it.

As for me, I'm counting the days -- 2 weeks from this Saturday. We leave Dec 3 and come back Dec. 11.   It's a good time to go because the prices are good, the ships are decorated for the holidays, and the weather is perfect.
