Back in October, Rick and I went to Connecticut for our fall weekend with my GF. It's the first time I left Mollipop alone since she's gotten older; last year we went away, but Molli was fine when we returned home; she was still a kitten and maybe she was OK with just being with the rest of the kids. She was never much of a lap kitty, although she likes to be in the same room as me. She sleeps with me, curled up under my left arm, but she never spent a lot of time lying on my chest. But that's it. No laps, no neediness. I could read with her lying next to me and she didn't care.

Since we came home from Connecticut, though, she's a changed girl. As soon as I sit down, she's right there in my lap. As soon as I get on the computer, she jumps in my lap or, she'll put her front paws on my leg and reach up to me to pick her up. Then she'll snuggle over my right shoulder and purr and purr in my ear. I try to put her in her chair next to me, but she wants to be right there with me. In bed, now she flops right on me and will lay there for quite a while; she'll sleep on my chest while I watch tv (forget about reading, not when she's lying on top of me....she won't allow it anymore).

And last night, Rick was packing to leave for Philadelphia this morning. Mollipop was very nervous and kept looking at me. I wasn't packing anything, but she still seemed anxious. This morning when Rick left, Molli was curled up tight next to me her face burrowed in my left arm pit. She wasn't happy when I left for work this morning, but I kept telling her that Mama would be home after work and the meeting after work. I kept promising her that I'd be home as soon as I could.

We used to go through this with Banshee, too. If I was away for longer than a day or two, Rick would call me to say that Banshee was going into her funk. I'd talk to her and she knew it was me.....her ears would perk up. But we knew she missed me.

Maybe it's because Molli is older now, I don't know. But she's been a needy little girl ever since we came home. I feel terrible that we've caused her to act this way.....she was more independent before I went away. As much as I love the attention (and don't get me wrong, I do love the attention!), I do hope she'll feel better and will get back to a bit more the way she used to be.

She's such a sweetheart and will never forget that you were the one that rescued her.  That's kind of  how Tippytoes is with me.

Our cats always get nervous when they see suitcases out, and we'll be taking ours out in the next couple of weeks (leaving on Dec. 3).
