When Angel first had her kittens I had all kinds of maybe's and stuff, now they are 10 weeks old and the maybe's have fallen through the cracks. I know have 3 wild and spirited kittens that run through my house (when we are home, otherwise they stay shut in my son's room). I have put add in paper for kittens and Mother (she was a rescue and I can't keep her either), several times. I got one or two calls but I just did not like the way they sounded (if you know what I mean). Now I am faced with maybe having to take them to the ASPCA. God help me I don't want to and I personally will not be able to (my husband will do the dirty work), but I am looking at no other choice here. Please help me, am I doing the right thing? I can not keep the Mom or kittens at all, that is totally out of the question.
I am so torn here I just don't know what to do. I am giving it one more weekend and that's it.

What do I do?????

is there any no kill shelters around?? I would talk to your vet, sometimes mine takes kittens and keeps that at the office to adopt them out.

As far as no kill shelters I don't know, how would I go about find one in my area? I am in Montgomery, Alabama.

The reason I can't keep them any longer is my son is going crazy with allergies and the kittens and cat in his room do not help at all plus they "play with his feet" during the night and he can't get much sleep. (he is 16). I don't have anywhere else to keep them in the house and there isn't another room to close them up in.

I will call my vet and check and see if they can take them, thanks.

Try putting up notices at your local pet stores and vet clinics, if they will allow it. Check in your phone book & with your vets for local rescue networks - you may be able to get your cats on a list of cats needing homes - they can also give you a list of questions to ask potential adopters so you will know the kittens are going to a good home. Tell all your friends and coworkers to tell their friends that you're trying to find a home for some kittens - networking can work wonders sometimes. Call around to find a no-kill shelter in your area & see if you can get them on a waiting list. Good luck!

*for the allergies, try using an air filter - also, you can buy bath wipes made for cats that help reduce the allergy-causing dander on their fur - they seem to help me. Can you close them up in a bathroom instead of his bedroom?

Cathy, I am considering getting Luna a brother or sister (she's an only kitty right now), but it may not be for another week or so, if at all. (I just thought about it today, have to talk to Alex.) Can you PM me to tell me more about them? I live in Atlanta, Georgia. What part of Alabama do you live in? If I can, I'll help, but it would only be with one of them.
I'm not allowed to have more than two in my apartment complex.

Cathy:

Check out this list of No Kill Shelters in Alabama, and see if anything would work. Call them and find out if they can take Angel and her babies. Also find out if there are any private rescue groups in your area that may be able to either (a) help you find homes through their organization if you can possibly turn Angel into a "foster" with the knowledge that you WILL NOT be keeping her (that may help sway the situation), or (b) if they have foster homes in your area that may be able to take Angel and her kittens. Also, I did a search for "cat rescue organization Alabama" on Google. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&i...zation+alabama Looks like there's a bunch of resources there.

Where there's a will there's a way! I'm sure if you are willing to do some legwork with these resources you can find a better option for Angel and her babies than the SPCA.

I knew I could count on ya'll to help me here. I am at work right now so I can't do "alot" of searching and calling all today. Boss will be out some again tomorrow so I will be able to do more then. I have put a sign up in our local Pet Supplies Plus store and around my neighborhood. I am fixing to get off work and have errands to do with my son so if I don't answer anymore tonight I will get back tomorrow with ya'll..again.....THANK YOU.....I do not want to take them to the shelter at all!!!

Don't offer them for free- even a $5.00 fee will stop anyone who wants some snake food or pit bull bait-
Good luck in placing them.

I wish I was closer so I could help you out. It frequently ends up in the situation you're finding yourself in now. People seem all excited and say they'd love to have one and then when it comes time, they back out.

Are you considering having your cat spayed after you find the kittens a suitable place? She'll be healthier and live longer!

She is looking for homes for all the kitties! Her son is allergic.

You could invest in a cozy crate. It is a small tent that you can place a litter box food and water and still have room for a small bed. This way they could be contained at night so your son can sleep. Oh and Sudafed works wonders for allergies!

I work at a nursing home and I know that the older people always enjoy interacting with visiting pets. Maybe you could make arrangements for you and the kitties to visit some of the nursing homes in your area, and let them know the kitties are available for adoption if any one is interested. You never know, there might be some employees who are willing and able to provide good homes.

If you vet won't take them, ask them to refer you to a rescue group or no kill shelter. If your vet doesn't know of any, pick up the phone book and call all vets in your area until you get the references you need. If you can find a cat-only vet, even better. You will be amazed at the number of grass-roots groups out there that are willing to help.

Do not advertize "free to a good home". Ask for money, and donate it to a rescue group.

Good morning all,

As far as having Angel spayed I don't know. I don't really have the money. She was a rescue I found with no intentions of keeping her but nursing her back to good health and finding her a home but she came up pregnant and now this is where I am.

Today the "Free" Bulletin Board comes out for our area (it's a litte newpaper thing that you can advertise anything in) so hopefully I will get some calls. My son had to go sleep on the sofa last night the kittens were bothering him so bad.

Call the vets in your area and see if they will donate a free neutering to your stray, or at least neuter at their "cost".

Have you contacted some vets to see if they can help you with referals?
