both our little fosters have been "baptized."  That is, they have both taken the plunge into the full bathtub.  We've only ever had one cat in the house (the geriatric Tiger), who didn't eventually fall in.

We have a big Jacuzzi tub that has fairly wide, flat edges and is next to a big windowsill.  I've never met a cat yet that didn't love it.  In addition to that, it's deep and large enough that, when it's empty, it makes a great kitty playground.  Chasing a ping-pong ball around in it can entertain for hours.

So, a few days ago, Sugar came around the edge.  I told her to be careful, but she ended up falling in.  The water wasn't very deep, so it wasn't as bad as it could be, but she learned her lesson.  Now she checks to be sure it's empty before she get in it.

This morning, I was taking a bath and Spice decided playing with the bubbles was great fun.  Splash!  You can't walk on bubbles!  Dottie dried her off and snuggled her in the warm towel, so it's not all a loss.

Wait, you were bathing when the cat fell in and weren't shredded into a bloody mass?!?!?!? :jaw:

Years ago, the bunch of kittens we had loved running from room to room to room and the tub made a great place to jump into and make sharp turns for the return trip out of the bathroom. That is, until the day they ran in as Mom was filling the tub. Mom swears the kitten in the lead jumped in, paused for a beat, then came straight up, to the side, and straight down to get out. It was like watching a cartoon, she said. :lol3: From then on that kitten always looked into the tub first before jumping in.

It's at moments like those that you wish you had a videocam running. The funniest incident I remember was with our old Siamese cat. He loved to climb the (cloth) shower curtains and peep over the top at you when you were showering or taking a bath. He did it for years, until he lost his hold one day, fell and landed right in the water. Only his dignity was hurt, but he stopped climbing the shower curtains after that.

When Marge was a kitten, she once fell into the full tub--only one problem: I was in it myself, and didn't know she had sneaked up on the back rim of the tub. However, her presence was announced when I felt claws hanging onto my back for dear life.  Actually, it was more like hanging INTO my back for dear life--she had them in deep. Man, that hurt!

LOL!  Poor babies!  DH and I never take baths and the girls don't come near when my DD is in the tub so no dunks for them.  When I was a kid I had a barbie pool that could float.  So I put that in the tub once and my RB girl Glory tried to climb in it.  hehe

Aw, poor babies. But a good snuggle helped restore Spice's dignity, I'm sure.

When we had Peanut Butter, he had this thing about water and bathtubs. I was taking a bath one night and PB was in the bathroom with me; he liked to sit on the edge of the bathtub and he and would talk while I was there. I decided to shave my legs and he became very fascinated with the razor. He ended up falling into the tub.....and I still have a very thin 7-inch long half-moon scar on the front of my left thigh from the razor. PB was fine, other than a bit of dignity injury. It didn't stop him from sitting on the edge of the bathtub, but it did stop me from shaving when he was around.

Banshee loved the water, too. When she was a kitten, I couldn't keep her out of the shower. She would sit on the edge of the bathtub and look around the shower curtain at the falling water. One day, I picked her up and cradled her in my arms while I was showering, keeping her protected from the water spray. But I'd put water on her back and she loved it. She grew out of it as she got older, not as much fun I guess.

Mollipop isn't a water baby at all. But she always comes into the bathroom with me; I guess she thinks I don't know how to use the bathroom by myself. Anyway, one morning around 4:00 or so, she was in there with me. As soon as I got up, she jumped onto the toilet bowl.....and promptly fell in the water. It all happened so quickly; I had reached around right away to close the lid, but she was faster than I. A bath was necessary, so there she and I were and I bathed her in the bathroom sink. She was not amused in the slightest.

But she (and now Tabby, too) still su-purr-vises when I go into the bathroom....she's just more cautious now.
