odd peeing incident

I just thought this was a little weird and I think I know what was going on with him but I just wanted to see everyone else's opinion.

Anyways, Wednesday, Matt and I finally got a washer and dryer for our apartment. Yay! What's even better is that they were FREE!! The new house my parents bought had a very nice washer and dryer but they didn't need them because they're bringing their even better HE washer and dryer from their old house so they gave the ones at the new house to us.    Anyways, up until Wednesday, Chacho's litter box has been in the laundry closet because it had hard floors, folding doors and a vent that we could turn on when Chacho make a stinky. Well with the washer and dryer there was no more room for Chacho's litter box so we moved it around the corner in the hallway next to the bathroom and the spare room. Chacho knows where it is and uses it so that's not really a problem.

This is what was weird, I've only seen him do this once but as I was getting ready to take my pre-work nap around 6pm, I was in the spare room/computer/gaming room talking with my boyfriend when I saw Chacho come tearing down the hallway and jumping into his litter box landing in a crouched laying down position (luckily I had scooped it an hour earlier.) He was just laying there staring at me in with this crazy look in his eyes.  It was weird for him to just lay there like that so I got up and went over to him, turns out that he was peeing. It was so weird for him to be laying there peeing like that.

I got to thinking of possible reasons for that,'

1- Cat box was moved to an area he wasn't use to   -Ruled that out because usually problems with changing where a litter box is located is usually the cat NOT using the cat box and going out side of the box. Since he's using it with no accidents anywhere else, that can't be the reason.

2- He had the crazies and had to go pee. Ran into the litter box like a crazy little bugger and remained in the crazy "I'm going to tear out of here" position while he peed.   -Plausible. He is a bit odd at times.

3- He was too busy being crazy that he didn't want to pee AND/OR he was too busy being crazy that he didn't realize how much he had to go until it was urgent and he had to run to the litter box and the crouched/laying down position was just because he had to pee so bad that he didn't have time to sit up.    -Plausible but a little doubtful.  Like reason #2, he is a little odd at times but I've never had a cat that held anything in for that long to be that urgent. (except for an incident with Yoda but that's because we had taken him to Iowa to my grandparents house and had gotten him the wrong litter. He refused to use it and held it all in for over a day. He peed for a good straight 45 seconds when we figured out what was wrong with him and got him the right litter. Poor guy!)

I personally think it was theory number 2 because I didn't hear the typical pressure hose sound like you usually hear when one(cat or otherwise) had to go really bad.    Any other theories or which one do you think is the most likely reason for Chacho's strange behavior.

beginning of a bladder infection? that's really the only other thing I could think of... crouched because it was painful/stung coming out? But if he's fine otherwise I would say go with whatever your thinking the reasoning is... he's your cat and you DO know him best. agree.gif

From what I can tell he's acting perfectly healthy and normal. A cat at my old house had bladder infections constantly, and at the early stages (before it reached the "I'll pee anywhere" stage) she would have a very strained look when she went and she would always move a little like she was uncomfortable, I mean you could tell peeing was uncomfortable even in the early stages.  I know cats are different and one cat may act differently to things like that but the vibe I got from him wasn't a "it kind of hurts mom" it looked like a "I want to keep playing but I have to make a pee break" look. He was giving me the same look and in the same position that he has when he wants me to chase him around which is why I'm kind of thinking its not a bladder infection.  It still could be, I guess its a good thing his litter box is out inthe open in the hallway now so I can keep an eye on him better.I'm planning on keeping an eye on him just in case.
