Hi, I am new to this forum and in need of some advise. I have a male and female indoor cat and one outdoor male that i have been feeding for 3 years. I have a new male that just started hanging around two weeks ago. He is obviously an alpha because he is aggressive towards the other outdoor male cat, especially when it comes to food. He is very friendly towards me (lets me pet him ....rollsover and wants belly rubbed) and I feel that he once was an indoor cat. Here's the situation......he badly wants to come into my house crying and scratching at the door and it pains me to leave him out there. I dont know if he is fixed, not declawed for sure and not sure if he has fleas, although I just gave him some advantage for fleas. Can he be introduced to my other cats in a way that they will get along or will he try to fight my other male cat? They sniffed each ther through the door and my indoor males hair went on end and he walked way. I don't think that I can put him in a room for a month like other feeds suggest. I brought him in today (kept my cats in a closed room) and let him sniff around and he always looked back at the door. If anyone knows of another way of if it is not possible I may have to try and find him a home.

Thanks.....

Welcome to TheCatSite, wavey.gif
It sounds like you have a loving heart and what to do what is best for your current furkids as well as the sweetie who wants to join your family.rub.gif

The threads linked below might give you some ideas about bringing the new boy inside....

also our behavior forum might help....

Check out the sticky thread at the top for ideas.

Personally, I would want to have a vet check for disease before I attempted introductions-
I am sure that other membes, who have more experienced than I do with strays, will have some useful ideas for you.

If I can help with questions you have about our site, just click my user name, send a private message, I will be glad to help if I can.

Thanks xocat. Not quite sure how to reply but I hope I did this right. I agree as far as having him checked. I don't want my cats to get sick. I built the taj mahal with straw for the winter but right now he is determined to get in the house. I will check the sites you sent to see if there is any info that may be useful.

Good question.... smile.gif
Most of our forums have, at the top of their main page,
a few "stuck" thread links, that contain information the site team felt should be kept.
Check the top of this New Cats forum. You will see several sticky thread links that you can click and read.
We have them in most of our forums. They can be very helpful. biggthumpup.gif

Hi and welcome to TCS zwaai.gif.

As far as adopting the "stray" cat, I would recommend you bring him to a veterinarian first. When you do that, you will find out if the cat has been castrated (spayed/neutered). Also please get the cat tested for the following: FelV, FIV, plus possibly FIP (hard to diagnose and controversial if the test works). Then I would get the vaccines needed to keep the cat disease free.
