Abcessed tooth!

Had to rush Lil Bit to the vet this morning. First thing when I woke up I noticed a big knot right under her eye and knew for sure that her eye cancer had spread or something. You know...think the worst things first! Anyway...she had an abcessed tooth and they lanced the abcess and pulled three teeth. Poor baby did very well, but since we've gotten back home, she has massive slobbers and a little bit of bleeding. The vet is not in her office and she didn't mention anything about her salivating so much! Is this common? I'm thinking making she tastes the infection and that may be why?? So, any advice and a few vibes would be appreciated. Poor little thing has been through so much this year....

If you are very concerned, bring the cat to the emergency veterinarian. Or make the first appointment you can with your regular veterinarian.

I have had many teeth removed from my oldest DSH Momma cat. She had a lot of drooling before and after the incident. As a vet tech, I have seen many cats drool after such procedures as well. But in my personal cat, the drooling stopped in about seventy two hours.

I do not remember any of the cats at the vets office bleeding. I know my personal DSH, had no bleeding after the incident. But I would assume minimal bleeding is nothing to worry about. But again, I really dontknow.gif.

Good to see you, taterbug ....

I have no advice.... but sending some vibes that way for your little girl. That was certainly an ordeal vibes.gif

Aw poor baby! vibes.gifvibes.gifvibes.gif

I'd call the vet if they have a service, or an e-vet if they don't. I expect the salivating is not unusual, but the bleeding doesn't sound good. Just like with people, there can be complications after having a tooth pulled, and you definitely don't want dry socket (where the teeth were extracted needs to clot). vibes.gifvibes.gifvibes.gif

Thanks everyone. Sorry I didn't update sooner She is doing great now!  The salivating stopped after a couple of hours. her 'little bit of bleeding' was  only a couple of drops, and I haven't seen anymore. I feel so bad that I didn't pick up on the signs that something was wrong before it swelled! Not that there were any....Anyway, she is feeling good and eating and drinking just like before. Guess we'll be getting the rest of them pulled soon!
